You padded into the den area of this beautiful lioness and tilted your head. She was clearly a part of some project, that much was clear. “Hello there...” she purred, a brow raised. “I’m Shred Snap, one of Snowdrop’s most beautiful lionesses.” She boasted, and though you agreed with her, it was a bit amusing to see how full of herself she was. “I’ve always wanted to have cubs since I was one myself... and now I get to fulfill that dream by being a part of Snowdrop’s project. They want an heir that is as beautiful as themself, but with a different base fur, a mix of mine and theirs. Hopefully I won’t disappoint them as I have so far...” she frowned. “They didn’t say that they were disappointed, but who could want those ugly cubs that I produced?” You winced at her unkind words toward her own cubs, but she took no notice of this. “Hopefully I’ll manage to give birth to a worthy heir. In the meantime, boring cubs that can be sold for a few extra silver beetles are... well, acceptable. I guess.”

The young mother stretched out, her tail curled as you padded into her den area. She seemed quite happy to have a cub, though there was something off. “Hello there!” She said happily but in a calm, sleepy voice. “I’m Shred Snap, the first of Monarch Snowdrop’s mutated lionesses to be born in this pride. Heh... sadly, my first cub is... less than appealing, appearance-wise. But I’m sure she’ll fetch Monarch Snowdrop a few silver beetles at the trading center. Someone is always willing to buy a cub with a few nice markings.” She rolled her eyes. That’s what was wrong, you realized; she had no true affinity for her cub. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother. I feel bad for letting Snowdrop down with this ugly cub, but they said that she was pretty enough. Even offered to let me keep her if I wanted, despite her imperfections. Of course I declined; who would want to keep her when she’s taking up space? Snowdrop is an emotional fool sometimes. Sweet, but a fool. Of course I love my cub, but I’m a part of a project. She’ll find a better home elsewhere, and I can focus on having more, prettier cubs.” Despite how wrong that seemed to you, you guessed you could understand why she thought that way, and left so that you didn’t wake up the cub.
