The sand whipped in Salvia's eyes as she traveled through the desert, screaming Basil's name.
Her love, who had disappeared in the brutal sandstorm she was traveling through.
Where had she gone? it had felt like only a moment ago when they were sitting next to each other. Last time Salvia had checked, their paw prints were imprinted where Basil and her sat everyday, just talking.
Where was she?
*
Salvia wandered the grasslands, but they stretched out endlessly in front of her. She had been searching for days, but she still couldn't find her love..
No. She would keep looking.
*
The pink lion was kind, inviting her in to their pride. There were so many lions, but even in the midst of them, why did she feel so alone? At least they talked to her. Maybe they knew something of Basil.
*
She woke up in a cold sweat. What was happening? She tried to move her paws, but it was no use. She was frozen. Almost frozen in time. She blinked and looked around. The others looked back at her, frozen as well. What had happened?
*
Salvia felt like she had watched this same sunrise at least 100 times before. Sometimes, she was able to stretch and walk around, but only for a day. Then, she was frozen again. No one was able to explain why it happened, it just did. Salvia wondered why.
*
Then, the news. The awful news. There had been a visit with a neighboring pride, and as Salvia greeted the other lions, they looked at her in shock. They told her that Basil had lived there; less than two territories away; her whole life, while Salvia had been frozen in place.
And that she had.. passed.
*
Everything was gray to her after that day. She went through the motions, but never truly felt awake or unfrozen. This was her life now. limbo.
*
Salvia woke up to a rainbow beaming down on her, and a familiar voice calling her name. Basil. Basil, Basil, Basil. It was a dream, wasn't it? But when she opened her eyes, there Basil stood. Her face was that of a crocodile, like Ammit the Devourer that she had heard of, but she knew it was her. Salvia leaped into her mate's paws, and was finally at peace.
