Upinde hates this pride, hates her king, hates her fellow cubs, and hates all the lioness' who look after her. They will leave her, just like her mother left her. No one will tell Upinde what happened to her mother, so how can she trust any of them? Her mother must've decided she hated Upinde and left her for dead. It's the only thing that makes sense. She knows Kiongozzi will eventually leave her for dead, too. Every lion in this pride would watch her die if it meant they could live another day. She will hunt down her mother and kill her herself, once she is of age. Maybe then her peers will understand that every other lion on this earth would kill them if need be.
