Canus

The old king sits away from the rest of the pride, his back turned. The lionesses don't exactly ignore him, they feed him and check in with him before they go on a hunt, but it's all a formality. Their gossip is all you need to understand his distance.
"He was called the Blood King before he got older"
"His old age made him weak, I think that's why he gave up the throne"
"Better idle than terrorizing the savannah.."
In his final years as king, he'd made somewhat of a turnaround, but it was not enough. And so Canus sits on the edge of a pride that is no longer his. He lives among the society he himself made, and only sees now how lonely that life really is.
