You go up to take a nap with Palace. She jokes that if you start snoring, you may find some maggots in your nose. You lie awake next to her and wonder if she really meant that.

Tired from a long day of exploring, you flop next to Palace. She starts telling you an embarrassing story from a pride mate's cubhood. You're soon laughing too hard to be tired.

You take a walk with Palace the next day. She tells you about her family and how she came to be here. Palace reminds you that she is going to be eight years old in a couple days.

Happy Birthday! You roar as you enter Palaces' den. You place down a large Bushbuck carcass for her to enjoy as a birthday treat.

Palace was feeling extra tired today. You gently tell her to take a rest and tell her another broodmother can look after the cubs. You sigh as you turn away from the now sleeping lioness. She was getting quite old. Palace is 11 years and 7 months!!

You noticed Palace walking at a slower pace to her usual one. You remind yourself she is 13 years and 5 months; she was getting old. You sighed, noticing how incredibly sad you felt.

You got up suuuuper early to check on Palace today. Yesterday was her 14th
birthday and you wanted to ask how it all went.

You bounce over to the sleeping Palace, burying your face in her thick warm fur. Palace is 15yr and 2 months old; You were aware you didn’t have as much time as you would like with her left. You Sob.

You nuzzle into Palaces fur as you quietly sob. You and her closest pride mates lay her down to rest in her favourite spot by the river. Goodbye, PalaceSpot, you mumble for the very last time.
