A loud roar announces the presence of a warrior. The bushes are shaken by a lioness rushing towards you at full speed. The impact is so powerful you collapse on the sandy ground, you cannot breath anymore. At least the crazy teen is now lying a few meters away from you.
Nicrophorus jumps on the adolescent and pins her down. Šeredna struggles for a bit before she gives up. Only when she accepts she has lost, the fighter let her go. The teen hisses at Nicrophorus for good form, then she disappears from your sight.
"Thank you" you manage to tell her as you get back on your feet. "This girl was a damn fury !"
"Don't be too harsh with her, she probably has the worst backstory from all of us here."
Ah here we go, story telling time ! All right let's hear it out. "What happened to her ?"
"Šeredna's mother was the ultimate survivor of the Great Purge. Years ago, Hexapoda and his brother killed hundreds of lions. Any poor soul bearing a specific marking the two brothers judged unworthy of the natural beauty of lions were tracked and killed. It lasted for months. Eventually, Kestrel fell in love with one of them. They had a daughter together, Šeredna. When Hexapoda found out, he was furious. To pacify him, Kestrel handed his brother the two lionesses, he would have done anything to protect them but his loyalty towards his brother was stronger. Hexapoda knew how much his brother loved the two girls and he was grateful for his brother's loyalty. He decided not to kill them but Hexapoda couldn't allow his brother to continue spreading the marking. He used black magic to turn Kestrel's lover back into a cub and for their daughter, well she has been living here since."
"Hexapoda did this to her ? I thought he was... kind."
Nicrophorus shakes her head. "He spared her life, she shouldn't even have been borned in the first place. But she has always been neglected and humiliated. I blame him for what she's become, not her."
The lioness keeps quiet for a minute and you do not dare to break the silence. You follow her without a word through the dry plains.
"We are parting ways here." She finally speaks again. "I will go back to the huntresses and you will return to the main den, all right ?"
