When I was born, my coat was the color of silver. Selena was just starting her journey across the starry sky when I let out my first breath. My mother was so delighted that she cried, praying out loud, with tears in her eyes. Sundown is when Selena is closest to earth. She rushed over to see what was the commotion.

When Selena materialized in front of my mother, she was disgusted with her for wasting her time… she called down the stars. My mother was burned. Gone. I don’t remember her passing, I just remember the searing heat on my silver coat, and the shock of the black spots on my coat from the ash. It will never come off. Selena intended it.

Selena hadn’t seen me. I was right behind her. Selena nursed me back to health. And she told me over and over again, that my mother was evil. She wasted a goddesses time when she was supposed to be doing her duties. As an apology, she promised that no harm should ever come to me. And with that, she delivered me back to the mortal realm.

But I quickly realized she was so wrong. I could barely walk. I could barely even communicate… and she had dropped me alone in this vast expanse of a world. She had promised no pain would come to me… but, yet, ever since she left me here, it feels like someone has been slowly breaking my heart and soul apart.
