When Akua was young her father, Celaeno passed away. In her grief, her mother Keema began to neglect Akua. Keema was sure that somehow, Celaeno's death was her daughter's fault. Eventually, Akua couldn't take it anymore, and after a deadly, physical fight with her mother, Akua fled her old pride. While traveling, Akua wandered into the coldest area, leaving her frost bitten. When she found warmth again, the frost bite went away, but the white marks it gave her fur did not. She lives safely in Nova's pride now, but remains wary of older lioness'. When she joined Nova's pride, she offered to change her name to help her forget her past, but she decided to keep it. Now, Akua shows off her name and frostbite marks with pride, reminding everyone of what she had to go through to get there.
