A uniquely coloured cub, with dashes of rose gold and platinum blue across her soft, sleek coat. Black webs of pattern laced her body, creating a piece of art on which she stood upon. The small fragile cub was looked on as a goddess, decorated in gold armor that her pridemates had collected and polished into perfection.
Her mother was an acknowledged lioness, known for her great deeds for her clan, as well as being a beautiful and tolerable female.
Her father was a king from another clan, who she didn't know very well, as she never really communicated or talked with him as of now. She did realize eventually though, he was an amazing father. He was strong, diligent and demanding.
However, Lotis was not fond of her pridemates, parents, and their hard work.
She only appreciated the feeling of being above others, being more beautiful than others, or well being the queen of her pride.
She was still very young, so she did not understand the way of the pride.
But what she did understand is that she was the best, she was the prettiest and it showed through the acts of her many allies.
TIME SKIP 2 YEARS-
She sat atop of her gold-plated throne, running a wet paw over her ear, sleeking the hairs behind her scalp. She wasn't feeling it today, again as always. She never felt like heaving herself up and doing all that nasty labor for clanmates she didn't even trust. So she laid, creating a beautiful image of a proud lion sitting on a queen's throne.
Her clanmates honored her, caught elephants just for her, added new feathers to her nest every evening and even tried to wash them themselves! She was overall sick of it, she didn't trust any of them.
" I know I am beautiful, but I am not some item for them to cherish. " She snarled to herself,
" Maybe I will leave, I'll find a different clan, where they will look at me as just a normal lion, not some queen or princess material. "
So she did, she growled at her king on the way out. She left in a fashionable way, many lions trying to catch up to her, begging her to stay. " Please, I'll even add some of my large leaves to your nest! " " I'll catch you the amount of elephants i catch per day, but a hundred fold! " " Don't leave! "
She plugged her ears with burrs, not being able to stand the cries of her former clanmates any longer.
She trodded through mud, plains, villages and rivers, searching for her new clan or her new living. Her paws grew tired and raw, and even bled from time to time from the aggravating stretch of eternity where she now lived in.
A beautiful lioness appeared before her, a dashing silver grey coat with onyx rosettes and a black backstripe which sprinted from her nose-bridge to the tip of her tail.
The girl looked at her, tilting her head.
" Who are you? " She asked loudly, astonished at the pitiful view.
Yes, pitiful view. Lotis's coat was now packed with mud, dirt and leeches. The leeches were another story. Her eyes were bagging and clouded and her usual proud smile now resulted in a droop.
" Lotis, and you? " Lotis murmured, rubbing her eyes with a paw.
" Reena. " The silver lion purred, closing her eyes. She beckoned with a paw, asking Lotis to come.
" You don't look like you're from around here, where do you come from? " Reena questioned.
" I'm from a clan, quite a couple nights away from here. I left though, the lifestyle was annoying and bored me half to death. "
Reena let out a chuckle, " Wow! I've never met someone from a clan before, especially not from so far away. " She smiled at Lotis, " What brings you here though? "
Lotis was not quite sure. " I kind of just wandered wherever. So I'm not sure what brang me here. "
Reena nodded, " Follow me, I'll take you to my den. "
They sprinted along a path, well not really a path, it was just firmly pressed grass on the ground, probably from other lions. Reena broke into a trot, then slowed to a walk near a small cave, not fit for more than five lions.
" You live alone? " Lotis was surprised, She thought Reena would have a king, since she was so beautiful.
" Yeah, I was never interested in the clan life, I like to live alone, it's much more peaceful that way. " Reena grinned. " Though, I am looking for a roommate. "
" Roommate...? " Lotis muttered.
" Yep, want to live here? " Reena's face stretched into a wide smile.
Lotis was shocked at her forwardness, they just met! But she wasn't going to decline, she had nowhere else to go. She had not slept in a couple days either. One night couldn't hurt...
" Maybe just for the night, but I guess I could think about it. " Lotis glanced away.
She kind of did want to stay.
Lotis flopped down, into a nest which was not as comfortable as the ones back home, but it would do. The nest lacked feathers, but was still slightly padded with rawhides. There was a small issue though, Reena only had one nest.
They were sleeping next to each other. Both had already laid down, but one was sleeping soundly. Reena snored, and had her paws wrapped around Lotis.
Lotis found this very weird. It was warm but also weird. She was a girl and Lotis was also a girl.
Naturally the king would only do this to a lioness, not another lioness unless they were siblings. For some reason, Lotis kind of felt at home in Reenas arms. Why though? They were both girls.
Lotis just shut her thoughts out, 'I shouldn't make too much of it.' She pondered, resting her head down and scrunching her eyes shut, soon falling into a deep slumber.
Lotis woke up, to find herself in a interesting position, Lotis and Reena were basically nose to nose.
Lotis was a very anxious sleeper, and moved all night long. She must've twisted to the other side! She tore herself away, her furry face glowing a bright red. Reena awoke, blinking a couple times to berid of her sleep.
" What's got you so worked up? " Reena asked.
" It's nothing. "
TIME SKIP - 5 YEARS, LOTIS AGED 7, REENA AGED 8
It had been a couple years, around maybe five. Lotis had decided to stay with Reena, as she had grown quite attached to the silver lioness. Maybe attached isn't the way to say it, She had grown feelings for this lion. Feelings for a girl.
She was still confused but didn't deny these feelings, her heart throbbed a different way when she was with Reena.
The two lionesses were on a hunt, as both were hungry for some nice breakfast. Lotis had noticed a large female elephant, who was chowing on some grass next to a peeling acacia tree.
" Over there, " Lotis whispered, pointing with her tail towards the large grey beast.
Reena nodded, and they both prowled towards the elephant. Lotis kept her body close to the ground, keeping an eye on the beast.
Reena was quick, digging her claws into the ground and tugging herself forward. They both were close enough to pounce.
Lotis pushed off the ground with her back legs, springing into the air. She unsheathed her claws and tore down the elephants backside.
It let out a shriek and spun around, stomping the ground with anger. It quickly switched to defense mode, bracing for the next attack.
It wasn't ready for Reena though.
Reena launched herself at the elephants head, biting down into the side of its skull. It yelped, shaking Reena off. It began to charge at her,
" Look out! " Lotis shouted, shooting a growl at the elephant and charged at it's large meaty legs, ripping flesh. It tripped and collapsed, giving the two the chance to finish it off. Reena delivered the killing bite.
They both were enjoying the meal, blood splashing across their faces as they tore meat morsels off of the body.
" Y'know, Lotis, you're quite awesome actually. " Reena mumbled through her food-filled mouth.
" Huh? " She didn't quite hear that.
" I said you're cool, dummy! " Reena scoffed, jokingly.
" I like you too. " Lotis smiled, with a pink blush covering her face.
Reena was a little shocked, but quickly delivered a smile back.
" What's that supposed to mean!? " Reena scolded, with a laugh.
" It means I love you! " Lotis rolled her eyes, gulping down that nervousness and the meat in her throat.
Reena grinned, " Glad we feel the same way! "
They quickly finished their meal and began to walk back to the den.
" So when are we getting married? "
" No. "
