Sushi was alone.
This was nothing unusual, of course, she was alone. Her mother, her birth mother, had left her, at the age of 11 months. She was tired, of raising the 'Weird Cub', with her father being a lion, and her mother a Leopard. Her brother took better care of her, practically raising her, until he passed away at the same age her mother left. Maybe that's why she did.
After they'd both gone, Sushi was left alone. To fend for herself. And she did, live alone, hunt, eat, sleep, repeat, for the next two years of her life. Untill the day she stumbled upon Crane.
Crane was a beautiful lioness, black and white piebald, charming, smart, and hilarious. Sushi and Crane became close friends from the second they met, even sharing their prey. Only a few months later, they were always together. They shared a den, hunted together, talked all of the time, and made each other laugh. Unsurprisingly, the two of them fell in love, and became even closer. They were like this, together, and happy, for the next year of their lives.
Untill the day came that Crane was gone.
She didn't return home, which wasn't too worrying, sometimes she stayed out late, hunting, or she found something interesting, or another bug she'd bring home to show Sushi.
Untill one day turned into two. And two into four. And four into a week, and a week into two months, and those two months into a year. That's when the search began, when Sushi finally knew Crane wouldn't come home, and she set out. Wandering the pride lands, roaming the wild. Trying anything. She'd stumbled upon countless prides, trying to find her, trying to figure out where she could have gone, where she went.
A few months into it, Sushi gave up. She stopped hunting and stopped bothering to drink. Scarred, bruised, tattered, and that's when she stumbled upon the pride.
She'd barged in, asking for questions, begging for anyone to know about where Crane could have gone. The pride, of course, didn't know, but before the lioness could leave, the pride stopped her. They refused to let her go unfed and untreated for her wounds. They gave her food, water, and a kind, older lioness Washing Machine treated her wounds, and let Sushi stay in her den. Sushi immediately felt attached to this lioness, who treated her so kindly. She remained in the pride for a few more days, just for her, and found herself at the offer to Remain in the pride, as a member.
The entire pride was happy with her, they helped her and hunted with her, were kind to her. So she stayed.
She stayed with Washing Machine, and then after a few months considered her a Mother.
