Eden's ears perk slightly, but she does not acknowledge you as you approach, as she is snoozing.
Died on the 12th of December 2023, at 16 years old. Leaving the spot as the oldest pride members to her two younger sisters: Mayari and Seraph (both 12 years, 2 months old at the time).
16/9-22 [3 months old]: Eden mews and brushes against you for attention. You give her a playful nudge back towards the direction of her mother. She can handle this needy cub.
18/9-22 [4 months old]: Eden was struggling to drag a mongoose carcass over to where you lay. You watched them in amusement before walking over to accept their gift.
5/10-22 [1 year 10 months old]: Eden asked her mom Maya if she wanted to follow her on her adventure's as an avid explorer. By dawn the two had managed to bring home two gazelle carcasses and some shiny rocks. Eden's big sister Alleria woke up from her slumber, congratulated her little sister and their mom on whatever the hell they where doing and instantly fell back asleep.
11/10-22 [2 years 4 months old]: You grin at Eden and asked if she found out where the wildebeests were moving to, like you asked her to yesterday. Her greeting faltered and she looked guilty. Oh, she forgot. Again.
5/11-22 [4 years, 5 months old]: Maya told Eden to play kind with her little sisters, Mayari and Seraph. They're just cubs! Eden told their mother that it's Seraph she should worry about. That thing has TEETHS!
24/11-22 [6 years]: Eden doesn't feel as playful anymore. Going to the waterhole and splash everything in sight, making her big sister Alleria and mom Maya deeply sigh, just doesn't feel as great anymore. Eden looks over and watches her two younger twin sisters, Maya and Seraph - newly turned 2 years old, fight and gnawing onto each other. Alleria walks up behind her. "Welcome to my world" she yawns in a shady way. Eden pushes her off and starts to play with some nearby skulls. "I'm not like you, yet!" she snorts, and Alleria just laughs and walks away. Damn, has Alleria always been this way? Maya once told her that Alleria used to be the sweetest cub - melting hearts everywhere she went. Their mother must have gotten memory loss due to her aging cause hell! That cub and this Alleria can't be the same lioness.
11/12-22 [7 years, 3 months old]: Mayari asked if Eden wanted to join her and collect skulls. "It's the best hobby ever, you could create all kinds of things with them!" Mayari excited said. Eden just smiled. She doesn't know, does she? Eden took Mayari and showed her that in her younger explorer days she herself had made countless of things with explore items. Eden helped Mayari make her very own explorer outfit, with a herb pouch and gracious bone jewelry. Eden was finally happy someone was interested in her crafting. Alleria only cared about doing nothing, and Maya...well Maya is her mother after all so she has to act like she loves it even if she doesn't. And her niece NANA Osaki... she always terrified Eden to be fair. "You're by far the coolest sister!" Mayari happily said and Eden couldn't help feeling the proudest she's ever been. Mayari being 3 years, 4 months old at the time. Eden smiled, and in Mayari's eyes saw parts of herself reflecting back at her.
9/3-23 [9 years, 4 months old]: Yesterday was Alleria's 15th birthday. "I'm going to die soon, so prepare to be the oldest sister for a while" Alleria said with no emotion at all in her voice. "I don't wanna be the oldest sibling, I've always had you" Eden anxiously said, and to her surprise Alleria laughed. "Welcome to my world" she laughed: "I don't have any older siblings and I did fine, didn't I?" she continued. "Well you were a teen mom and your daughter NANA Osaki turned 13 yesterday, the same day you turned 15 so that depends..." Eden said. "Well well, maybe I would have needed a bigger sister.." Alleria said, then she pointed at Arthas, her youngest son being only 1 years and 2 months old at the time . He was playing with a squirrel and did not notice the two of them talking about him. "I'll take care of him, don't worry" Eden said. Alleria looked her sister in the eyes, then she walked away.
11/12-23 [16 years old]: Eden went to the pond where she and her mother Maya used to play when Eden was a little cub. Maya's oldest daughter and Eden's big sister Alleria would lay on a rock a few meters up and watch the two play. "Careful so you don't snap ya tail off!" Alleria screeched. Eden instantly stopped what she was doing and looked at her mother with big eyes. "Is that possible??" Eden let out, and Maya gave her oldest daughter a snarky eye. "No, of course not. Don't be silly" Maya said, "Your big sister is only saying things because she's tired of holding her head up so damn high all the time" she continued. Eden laughed, and Alleria let out a tired but amused growl and laid with her back facing them two.
Eden and Maya continued to chase each other in the pond.
The ponds water was so still, it was almost unreal. When Eden was little, she would run as fast as she could to the pond. It was only a short way from their den. Now, however, it felt like a long way to walk on tired paws. She swore to herself as she twisted her paw when she tried to walk a little bit faster. Eden looked at her sore paw, her tan paw pad had wrinkles on them. Reflecting years of being a top huntress, side by side with her mother and big sister, then younger sisters, and eventually daughters of her own. "I guess this is it" Eden said and smiled.
She sat by the pond and watched as the grass were dancing in the soft breeze.
"I thought I'd find you here". Her youngest daughter Sigrid (5 years, 8 months old at the time) walked up to her. Her fur was wet, she had been to the snow forests as usual. "Not much else to do nowadays, can't hunt with sore paws" Eden said do her daughter and smiled. "Little rascals can always be chased". Eden's oldest daughter Akira (7 years, 7 months old at the time) showed up next to Sigrid. "What are you two doing here? Came to sit with your scranky old mom?" Eden laughed, but laughter turned into violent coughing. Her daughters gave each other a look.
Then the three of them just sat silently by the pond, watching the dust blow in the wind, and the leaves fall from the trees. The pond was as still as always.
