With the harbinger visiting year after year the omens he warned of grew more severe. Ever closer to the pride they crept until in the very cave of their home a cub was himself a warning of the dangers to come. Born mewling hoarsely, a rattle like dying cattle with a frightening visage, teeth like gnarled claws and dark black fur that hung off of their neck and face in heavy curtains. A crow that had perched nearby for their birth approached at once and stood by their side, cooing and cawing as it would to its own feeble chicks. When the cub was first to open its eyes, the deepest of red pools surrounded their pupils. Looking into the eternal eclipse they could see the death and destruction of this world... yet they were just a child. Powerless to stop it.
