Life Story
When he was a cub, he never received a name, most lionesses called him brat or trouble. This was because he always got into trouble. He started to hate all of the lionesses, especially Hiet, the lead huntress. One day he wondered far from home, too far to find his way back. He wandered into a pride that excepted him with open arms (well, paws). He received his first name the following day, Quake. He grew into an adolescent and then an adult. Slowly forgetting that he came from a different pride. When he was eleven he was told that with the scarce food, he had to leave. He traveled for almost a year before he found a pride that was willing to take him in. Here he got his second name, Shaking the Earth. After a few days, the eldest lionesses decided to rename him Earthquake, his third and final name. The reason why she decided to rename him, no lion understands.
Lion Lore
Earthquake loves to sit by himself in his favorite tree, the Great Boabob. He thinks about his life and often wishes that he could've been pride leader. Of course, he's too old for that now. He lost his chances once he left his first home. He might've had a chance, a small one, but still a chance. He is grateful that he is now with a different pride than his first, but sometimes he still wishes that he could go back. The only reason he's still here is because of Queen Trahlie. She was the first one to make him feel comfortable and like he belongs. She often sits with him, their tails twined and hanging off the largest branch. Trahlie worries that Ashfoot might start to suspect something, but Earthquake always says that he won't care that we spend time together. Every now and then he starts to get a little mad at other lions, he thinks that because of his age, he is superior to most lionesses. He bossed around Mother Season's Greeting for almost a year until he got put into place by Ashfoot. Ashfoot says that if he doesn't start bringing things back from patrol, and if he continues to boss around lionesses that have been here longer than he has, he will have to leave. Earthquake agrees to stop and tries to focus harder on patrols. He knows that feathers are good for nests and lionesses need nests in order for cubs to be born safely. He collects things often on patrols but sometimes he gets help from Trahlie. He enjoys sitting on the highest ledge he can, listening to the rain when it rains.
Short Story
Earthquake was climbing the Great Boabob, when Trahlie called to him. "Yeah?" He called down, pausing his climbing for a minute.
"A massive storm is headed our way, Ashfoot wants all lions in Season Den. He says it'll last for a while." Trahlie calls up to him circling the tree.
"I want to go watch then." Earthquake starts to go back down.
"Earthquake, ALL lions. That includes you." Trahlie grabs Earthquake by the ear and starts to drag him back to the den.
"Ow, ow! I get it. I'll stay inside this time. Wasn't Grapefruit on a patrol?"
"Yes, he came back right before I was sent to get you. Come on now, we have a long trek to get back home."
"Hey! Wait for me!" He calls as Trahlie takes off.
"Can't catch me!" She shouts behind her. Soon enough they reach the dens and head into the largest one.
"Queen Trahlie." Ashfoot calls, waving her over with his tail.
"I'll be back." She says to Earthquake. She walks over to Ashfoot. He sits up and they walk toward the back of the cave.
"I'll just be by myself I guess." Earthquake mumbles.
"We can hang out if you want." Mother Season's Greeting comes up to him.
"If your going to go on about how I was wrong when I bossed you around, I know. You can go."
"I forgave you about that. The children would love to hear a story about your previous pride. Maybe the one that you ran away from?" She tilts her head.
"What? I never ran from a pride!" Earthquake snarls at her, lying.
"Yes you did. Don't tell anyone, but I watched you." She giggles.
"How? You're three."
"In lion form. Oops! I have to go, but think about why we brought you here." She hurries off to the other side of the cave. Ashfoot walks over and sits down.
"She's a weird one isn't she?"
