It's a mystery how she came to be, one day she was just huddled up next to one of the brood mothers who had lost her cubs before both just days ago. The sight of a newborn cub with fur that looked like flesh and eyes that looked dead and showed no emotion horrified the lioness at first, but the way the cub had absolutely no scent and no sign of any parent other than herself had her believing this Gastly cub was truly hers.
Despite the other pride members protests, she kept the cub, naming it nami which would have been the name of one of her cubs from the litter she lost. The lioness was so beside herself when it came to nami, she would be her normal self anytime nami wasn't around but when nami was around, her mood changed. She became over protective and possessive, nami didn't seem to mind it in fact she encouraged it. It became a well known fact that if you got close to nami you would end up changing, for better or for worse, but usually for worse. She became an outcast to the pride, neglected by just about everyone other than her "mother" because they all feared what they would become if they looked into her lifeless eyes or breathed too much of her cursed air that her body let out.
Her mother eventually was driven to insanity due to the other pride members trying to talk some sense into her, saying this cub is clearly not hers and is a cursed demon, but her mother would just wail about how nami is her cub and the greater gods smiled upon her and gave her one of her kin back. She would spend days sitting in a cave with nami just sleeping or speculating with her. She soon grew weary of the other pride members and lashed out at almost anyone for anything and so she just stayed in her cave, refusing to eat insisting it was poisoned, and refusing to leave to get water.
After her mother's death the pride still didn't shun nami out due to a promise they had made her mother, that they wouldn't chase her out. Which they often regretted, they hoped with no mother, nature would take it's course over her but she didn't seem to age at all, and she managed to keep a constant source of food and water from who knows where, so for the time being they were forever stuck with her
