“Malu promise me, promise me you’ll take care of this pride, that you’ll ensure our family’s name will be passed down and that Mars will be okay. Please. I’m not going to be here for much longer I need to know you’ll protect yourself and her” Nin said frantically. She had always held Malu close to her heart and the idea of the pride being safe.
“Yes mother..” Malu answered. But this promise is more than just words, it is more than just something you say then forget about, this is a dedication and a promise that cannot be risked being broken.

Nin has died. Malu has taken on the job of protecting the cubs and nursery, and that job will be passed down from mother to daughter to mother to daughter for centuries to come.
