Queen Amara

-Amara-

Amara was raised in a well protected and strict Pride, with a strong head mane (her father). Her mother was recognized as one of the best hunters in the entire pride, with her older siblings viewed similarly. When her father took over after his father had passed, he continued the hard and rigorous training that had been introduced since the pride first began. A set of rules- laws seemed to be the more appropriate term- never to be broken and always to be followed. Amara, just like any cub, was subjected to these laws as soon she could claw at a falling leaf.

The in general training was already draining, but Amara's mother carried out even more lessons personally so that she could ensure her family's legacy. Amara struggled in her mother's lessons more than her normal ones, and the bullying of the other cubs continued to worsen. Some of her siblings and the older lionesses warded them off but, they frequently picked at her.

As she grew, she began to learn the skills for hunting incredibly slowly. The techniques she was forced to practice were proving horribly troublesome and her mothers lessons started to turn into lectures. Shortly after her and her littermates matured into adulthood, she decided to leave the pride. The expectations, pressure, and trauma drove her to care little for her home and family.

When she announced she was planning to leave, her mother growled that she would be relieved to have her gone, her father did the same. Some of her siblings made conversation and wished her a safe journey before she left, but none tried to stop her.

With the basic hunting skills down, she at least would be able to find some food. She traveled for many days, usually finding small rodents to snack on, though she was lucky once or twice and would find a starving gazelle. After making it to a small watering hole in the plains, she was spooked by the rustling of the tall grass.

Immediately catching the scent of a male lion, she was preparing for a fight she knew she would lose. When Skalfreid reveled himself, he swiftly apologized for startling her. She was taken-aback but listened to his blabbering; he explained that he was starting a pride in the marshlands, with plenty of food, water, and shelter for anyone to join. As she listened she could see that he was kind, a little awkward at first, but he was trying his best and ultimately convinced her.

As they started to get to know each other, she began to fall for him. She had never met someone as caring or charming as him before. She quickly hid those feelings though when she discovered he already had a mate, a leopardess who he confided in many times. After a while though, the leopardess informed Amara that she should only think of her as a normal pride lioness. She filled the same purposes, only she left for long periods of time, but would come back. Amara apologized for treating her differently, but the leopardess only laughed and encouraged her to act on her feelings.

After getting to know Skalfreid a little better, she decided she wanted to contribute more to the pride. She requested she be taught how to hunt. Skalfreid and the Leopardess agreed, they both took turns teaching her their hunting skills. Amara was surprised at how they hunted and fought, how they never raised their voices at her or tried to push her beyond her limit. Once she was comfortable, she went on some patrols on her own and was successful! She was praised and congratulated by her small pride and was so deliriously happy, she cried.

Soon after her hunts though, she realized she was pregnant with Skalfreid's first cub. They were both overjoyed, even the Leopardess came to congratulate her. Telling her how she was unable to give her mate any cubs but that she knows he will be happy that Amara will bare his first ever cub. He truly loves her. When Calo was born, Amara was determined to make her as kind and loving as her father, and treat her the complete opposite as Amara's former family treated her. After more lionesses joined, small cubs were found abandoned, and she was the only mother to take care of anyone needed, she requested that Skalfreid allow her to be a BroodMother. He told her the requirements and asked her if that is what she would really want even though she had just got the hang of hunting. After some thought she confirmed her desire for it.

Even though she was starting to learn new ways to hunt, she enjoyed her time as a mother to her adopted cubs and her own cub. She wanted to ensure that these cubs grow up with a kind, loving family.

As Amara grows old and her husband is now retired, she is happy and content with her life and her family. Coming from a brutal Pride herself, she is honored that her Pride can live in such a nice, loving place. She is the most appreciative of her daughter and her descendants. Even though they are no longer royals, Amara is proud of her ever growing family.
