Dunia grew up in a modest tribe in a neighbouring region to Sunnan Gorge. It wasn't the best of prides, but they did their best to survived the Great Hunger and to raise their cubs properly. Even if it meant sneaking too close to the human villages.
Dunia was the first to smell the strange smell of gunpowder in the air. When the birds disappeared and the herd scattered, she knew they were in trouble. Dunia couldn't warn her kin fast enough. The cattle eaten the day before were their downfall. The thunder cracked in the air several times in a row, and she could only watch as her family died out.
Alone, orphaned of family and feeding on carrion, she wandered for a long time until her heavy legs took her south, where the savannah gave way to desert and sand dunes.
Sunnan Gorge welcomed her and her heavy past. She quickly realised that everyone here has their own pain and their own baggage of past trauma. It wasn't long before she felt at home here, surrounded by lions who had also led different lives before stranding themselves in Da'rhad territory.
