Biography
Phobos is one of Mars' two moons and is known for its unique and intriguing characteristics.

Description:
Appearance: Phobos is an irregularly shaped moon, which gives it a somewhat lumpy, elongated appearance. It has a very rough and cratered surface. The largest crater, Stickney, is about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) in diameter and is a prominent feature on the moon's surface.
Size: Phobos is relatively small compared to other moons in the Solar System. It measures approximately 22.4 kilometers (14 miles) in diameter, making it only slightly larger than a large asteroid.

Location:
Orbit: Phobos orbits Mars at an extremely close distance—about 6,000 kilometers (3,700 miles) from the Martian surface. This proximity means that it completes an orbit around Mars in just about 7 hours and 39 minutes, making it one of the fastest orbiting moons in the Solar System.
Position: Because of its rapid orbit, Phobos rises in the west and sets in the east on Mars, which is opposite to the direction of most celestial objects on Mars.

Fun Fact:
Phobos is gradually spiraling inward toward Mars due to tidal forces. It is predicted that in about 50 million years, it could either crash into Mars or break apart and form a ring around the planet. This is a result of its very close orbit, which causes it to slowly decrease in altitude over time.
