Woodland Sun was walking through the Trading Lands, uninterested in much that was being sold. She had many goods stuffed in her pockets, but not finding much worth trading for. That was, until she stumbled upon a worried looking lion with a strange looking cub sitting on a little blanket.
Woodland approached the male with a soft smile, and she asked "what's wrong, friend?" He looks down at the cub and then back up to her. "My name is Telacar, and this is my cub. Though, he seems to have something very wrong with him.. I'm afraid I don't have the resources to care for him. Would you take him in?"
Woodland smiled softly and pulled some valuables out of her bag, dropping them in front of the male. The cub slowly scoots over to Woodland, gently nuzzling his head against her leg. She smiles softly. "Take these, friend. I'll take good care of him for you." She gives Telacar a gentle nuzzle before picking up the cub, bringing him home.
She shows the cub around the pride lands, finding his favorite spot is at the beaches. He rolls around in the wet sand and plays just like a normal cub. She then named him Sylvester, finding it very fitting for this beautiful boy.
Soon enough, though, Sylvester became weaker. He couldn't walk like all the other cubs, and it began to take a toll on his physical health. His body began to fail him, and he was on the verge of death.
Woodland had grown quite fond of her cub, and begged to her ancestors to do something, anything, to save her little one. Every night for 3 months, she cried up into the stars, hoping for some sort of sign.
One morning, Rosewater came to check on the young cub, and sent a shriek throughout the entire pride land. Woodland shot up out of her deep sleep and dashed to where her special cub laid asleep. However, the cub wasn't very... Cub-ish, anymore. Sylvester had a tail like a fish! He looked healthy and happy, playing with his newfound siblings, flopping around with his little tail. There was no sign of illness. It seems the ancestors answered Woodland's prayers! Her cub was alive and well! Fishy, but well!
Woodland continued to carry Sylvester around the pride, but didn't mind much, as he was her favorite. He spent most of his time by the water, playing in the water and sand. He was quite the avid swimmer!
Sylvester is a healthy, happy little catfish now, and lives in peace in Woodland's pride, being her prized cub.
