After many unfortunate miscarriages, Queen Mut had finally conceived again. Unlike her previous litters, this pregnancy had been exceedingly difficult, though she was due any day now. The Queen dreaded this birth. It was long, and painful. It had been nothing like she had ever experienced before, but there is always a calm after the storm. Queen Mut was finally meeting her cubs, this being her first (and last) female-only litter. Despite the puzzled looks on the rest of the pride members faces, a mothers love knows no bounds. She keeps them close under the warmth of her fur, and grooms them just as she did the rest. The first cub, Meskhenet, might as well have been born bald. The little fur she had appeared thinner than the others, though she was as soft as silk. The second, Seshat, was born the fluffiest of the litter. The other lionesses whisper among themselves, jokingly presuming the cub may be a runt male. Her final cub, Renenutet, is born with achromia. A white lion was nothing alien to this pride, yet this one was different.
April 5th, 2023 (One Year)
Despite their birth, the cubs had all developed just the same. However, Renenutet had opened her eyes much later than her sisters. She was sensitive to the light, and spent much time in the shade. She often came out at night, the cool air and dim moonlight feeling “soft on her skin”, as she would describe. The royals of the pride had come to agree that due to her lack of pigmentation and sensitivity to light, Renenutet would not be sent to the oasis. She would become a hindrance to the lionesses.
Queen Ahmunet produces a final litter of female-only cubs, Serket and Nekhbet.
April 17th, 2023 (Two Years)
Renenutet remains in the palace with her mother. She will never know how to fend for herself, relying on her sisters and her brothers for food and protection.
