"There are ways to see the future through a fog-like haze. Many lions have tried, and many think they know what the future will bring. Some see it through rose petals and pink. Some worry forever, for people they can't help. They only see the world's Blue Fortune."
Original Name
Golden Skies
Personality
Fortune is a bit flighty and a drifter of a lioness. She makes decisions easily, confident in what she believes in. She doesn't second-guess herself. She has faith in herself, and in others, and she trusts other lions to do what's right and not to harm her. She doesn't take almost anything personally, and is typically willing to forgive if the other lion has a good explanation or sincere apology. But if she's truly wronged, she can hold onto a grudge. She aspires to great things, and is a dreamer and schemer who goes above and beyond in her duties. She's interested in weirdly specific things, and can come off as a bit wacky because of her unique outlook on life. She may be confident in herself when she makes decisions, but around other lions she's a bit more awkward and unsure of herself. She messes up often, but doesn't backtrack to apologize or fix what she's done. She's very protective, and when she's with lions she cares deeply about, she'd far from laidback. She rides them and is constantly hovering around them, trying to help and encourage them, and frustrated when they don't meet her expectations.
Background
Blue Fortune was born to a lioness who lived under the rule of The Silence. Her mother was taken in temporarily by the pride, who worked together to form a cohesive structure under a king who took in and got rid of lionesses at an amazing rate. Her mother was pregnant, her father already dead. Her mother died shortly after coming to the pride, while she was giving birth to Fortune. Growing up in the pride, Fortune was cared for by Lady Anne, one of the only permanent pride members. Lady Anne was old and rather frightened of her king. Fortune, as she grew older, grew protective of her mother figure. When one of the lionesses in the pride had a child with Silence, the cub was born with a disfigured face. She was shunned by other members of the pride, and her mother left her there. But Fortune, already used to her protector role, took in the cub as well. The cub, Puawhananga, was always getting into trouble, and Fortune grew increasingly frustrated with her. The two started to squabble. Fortune was always fiercely loyal to their small pride, dedicated to keeping it together and looking after Lady Anne. Puawhananga, on the other hand, hated the pride, and wanted to escape. One day Puawhananga decided she was going to join the pride which Silence had come from. Fortune tried to keep her from leaving, and they got into a fight. Puawhananga left. Fortune wasn't sure if she should go after her. Lady Anne told her to look after her "sister," so Fortune went running after Puawhananga to make sure she made it safely an had someone to look after her. When they arrived, Sweet Cicely took an immediate liking to Puawhananga, her half-sister. She offered to train Puawhananga as the next herbalist, and so she began her training. She quickly fell behind, and Fortune, irritated, pushed her and helped her with her work. She wound up taking over a lot of Puawhananga's duties, and soon knew more than her about healing. They bickered about this as well, Fortune determined that Puawhananga apply herself. When the day came to put the herbalist apprentice to the test, Puawhananga fell short. Worried about her, Fortune jumped in to fix her mistakes. Sweet Cicely saw this, and realized Fortune would have to be the next herbalist. This caused another huge fight between Fortune and Puawhananga, and while Fotune stepped up as the next herbalist, the two stopped talking.
How do you feel about Rose Queen?
"Even though I loved my old pride, I never loved our king. Rose Queen is a queen who looks after her pride, and because of her the lionesses look out for each other as well. I didn't want anything to do with the pride to start out with, but now I've gotten used to the way things are here and I'm glad to have someone like Rose Queen."
Who is your favorite lion?
"I haven't seen her since I left the pride, but I still think about Passage on the Lady Anne every day. She took care of me like a mother when my real mother had died. And I took care of her as she got older. I'm sorry I had to leave her behind."
Who is your least favorite lion?
"I don't hate her, really, but she's thinks she's such a little rebel. She disagrees just to disagree, and she blows everything out of proportion. I've worked so hard to help her make something out of herself, but Puawhananga won't listen to anything I say. She just keeps blaming me."
