Zecora left her previous pride to become a shaman.
She met one once when she was a cub, and since then she adored their lifestyle.
She roamed the entire savannah in search of Trapped Souls, which she believed she had to release at the behest of one of the gods. On her journey she met some lone shamans, and even some prides of them, but she never joined any.
During one of her rituals, she accidentally summoned an evil spirit. The spirit attacked her, leaving a scar on her eye.
After this event, Zecora decided it was time to end her journey and join a pride.
The pride she joined happened to be the one living on The Lake Land, ruled by Anza.
At first the king was hesistant about letting the lioness join his pride, because he didn't really believed in shamans' powers. He saw all the rituals as cheap tricks to mess with lion's mind... But despite it all, he decided to welcome Zecora into his pride.
After some time in it the shaman convinced Anza that spirits, gods and all kind of spiritual things are real, and even can be dangerous. Anza finally believed her, but he still isn't taking most of her rituals seriously. Even if they, for example, heal a sick cub or summon an extinct bird... Zecora is alright with it. the king respects her beliefs, and she respects him.

At some point she took Quartz as an apprentice.
