Biography
Description:
Appearance: Grévy's Zebra is known for its narrow, closely spaced black and white stripes, which are more finely detailed compared to the broader stripes of other zebra species. It has a relatively large, horse-like body with a long, thin face and large, rounded ears. The stripes extend all the way down the legs, and the mane is short and erect.
Size: Grévy's Zebras are the largest of the three zebra species. They can reach a height of about 1.4 to 1.5 meters (4.6 to 5 feet) at the shoulder and weigh between 350 to 450 kilograms (770 to 990 pounds).

Habitat:
Location: Grévy's Zebra is native to the arid and semi-arid regions of East Africa, including parts of Kenya and Ethiopia. They are adapted to the dry, sparse landscapes of these areas.
Environment: They prefer open savannas, grasslands, and occasionally light woodlands. Their habitat is characterized by low vegetation and a lack of dense cover.
What It Eats:
Diet: Grévy's Zebras are primarily grazers and feed on a variety of grasses. They are known to be more selective feeders compared to other zebra species, often preferring more nutritious, high-quality grasses. During dry seasons, they can consume a significant amount of browse (leaves and shoots) from shrubs and trees.

Fun Fact:
Grévy's Zebra has a unique social structure compared to other zebras. While most zebra species form large, stable herds, Grévy's Zebras tend to have more fluid and flexible social groups. They often form smaller, temporary groups or live as individuals. Additionally, Grévy's Zebras are known for their distinctive vocalizations, including a loud, donkey-like bray that is used for communication. This vocalization is quite different from the more common "barking" sounds made by other zebra species.
