King of his pride, The After Thought, is one of a kind and when you can’t find a certain lion, he is either sleeping, playing with cubs, or flirting; as any young lion would do. Everyone in his pride loves how lovely he is, or how gentle he is with the cubs. Nobody would intentionally say anything to harm him. Anyone but When Will I See You Again, the young king’s best friend, and closest confident. They are two halves of a whole, as The After Thought is silly, funny, he is open to try anything and everything. His counterpart, When Will I See You Again, is close to the opposite. The king of this pride loves everyone in it; it's a wonderful thing when you stroll through this pride’s land and find The After Thought rubbing up against one of his pride members, or finding him playing with the cubs. The gentle king, always one for the games, ready to make someone smile, ready to get someone through the day the only way he knows how. Even on his darkest days, where he doesn't feel like smiling, he will be there no matter whatever it takes for his pride to smile.
Even though the king is almost always around his other half, he enjoys being by himself too. One of his favorite pastimes is being with his beetles. The After Thought loves his beetles more than anything in the world, sometimes lions think that he loves them more than he loves the pride. He has a small collection of them in the corner of his part of the den, making sure the cubs never touch them because of how delicate the baby ones are. He loves seeing the variety, and the new colors he can always come up with. He always makes sure to keep the family together, to keep the records about what created what new color, or to know who has a relation with who. His corner with the beetles is slowly becoming more and more crowded, slowly overfilling itself. He doesn't mind though- he plans on making them a whole part of the den eventually with branches criss-crossing each other, leaves scattered along the floor; any part of the real outside world that he can give them, he will. He wants them to have any normal wildlife life that he can give them, all while keeping them to himself.
This lion's past time is one of a kind, really and truly. Yes- he does basic young king things, but it's also things that only apply to him. The way he brings flowers to the lionesses he likes, the way he brings toys to all the cubs no matter how many times he has to take trips back and forth. The gentle murmuring he does when he sleeps, nobody knowing what he is saying, or knowing what is happening in his dreams. He is a sweet, kind lion, and does anything in his power to help the lions around him. If they have a problem, he will do his best to fix it. If he cannot fix it- he will make the lion feel better, no matter if he has to work all day for them to smile, or if he has to come back a thousand times to that lion just to simply ask if they are alright. He can be a bit annoying with these questions, but it is only something he does, so it's greatly appreciated by his pride members all the time. It could be midnight and The After Thought would still be walking around his land, waiting for his pride members if they hadn’t come home yet.
The After Thought is many different things. Some will call him kind, others a goofball with no idea what he's doing. The only similarity they have between what people call him is that they would all call him a great leader. Someone who knows what to do when something is so clearly wrong. Someone who will lead his pride to greatness, and keep his lions from falling into despair. They will tell you that he is one of the great leaders of his pride, and will train the next king to be even better than he ever was. A king with his own flair, just like how The After Thought has his own flair. His flair is keeping everyone happy, helping out in any possible way he has access too. If his pride members want a fruit, and it's high in a tree, he will climb that tree no matter how high it is. No matter how scared he is of the height, or how scraggly the tree looks, he will climb it. Sure he might panic when he's halfway up the tree, but he will climb it and make sure his pride members are as happy as they can be.
