Clover and Snake found Opal on their territory during one of their patrols. The lioness was sleeping, and it seemed that she was fully aware that she's on someone's land. When Clover woke her up she growled at her for disturbing her nap. Clover, already annoyed, told her that she's tresspassing, but in response the lioness just shruged and went back to sleep.
Clover would probably claw this unbothered look off her face if Snake wasn't there.
Seeing how angry Clover is getting, Snake tried to talk to the sleeping lioness. He politely asked her to leave, but she ignored him. That's when Anza showed up. He realised that the two younger lions were gone for a while now, so he wanted to check if everything was alright.
Anza tried to talk with the lioness just like Snake, but when he introduced himself as the king of The Lake Land, she started laughing! This led to a loooong argument... When Opal got tired of it, she just stood up and left without saying a word. Weird.
Anza thought that he got rid of this weird lioness for good, but he was wrong. After a few days she showed up again. This time she just walked up to Anza and said hello by calling him a "Twig King". Then she told him that she would like to join his little pride. It was the first time Anza wasn't sure about welcoming a lioness on his land... When he asked her why, she said that his pride looks pretty weak and probably needs a talented, strong, skilled and humble huntress like her. In reality, Opal wanted to join Anza's pride because she liked how kind the king was. Of course, she would never admit it.
Anza had to talk about it with Silky, but in the end they decided to let Opal join their pride.
At first she was really hardworking, and she turned out to really be a good huntress. But after a while she started to neglect her duties, and soon she wasn't hunting at all.
She started to do it again only after both king AND queen threatened that she'll be kicked out if she won't do anything for the sake of the pride. She still wasn't hunting much, but she was doing enough to be useful.
Surprisingly, she became friends with Clover. They liked to gossip about other lionesses or openly criticize them.
As Opal got older it was harder and harder for her to get pregnant. Sadly even if she succeed none of her cubs managed to survive.
Finally, Opal decided to try for a cub one last time. When after many attempts it was finally born Opal refused to even look at it. She wanted her last and only cub to be special in some way, but the sad piece of fur not only wasn't special, her newborn daughter was weak, small, and not even pretty. It was just a dissapointment. Opal was ready to abandon the cub, but Hatari volunteered to adopt it instead.
Anza decided to call Opal's unwanted cub "Imeachwa", which meant "Abandoned".
Opal had no idea that the child she rejected would want revenge.
It was one of the first warm days after winter ended. Opal was resting by the river when Imeachwa approached her. The young lioness did it quickly - just seconds later Opal was dead, killed by her daughter.
Opal was able to defend herself. She knew it. Maybe she wasn't too strong anymore, but she still was stronger than her failure of a cub. The thing is... She didn't want to hurt Imeachwa. She didn't love her. She had no problem with getting rid of her when she was born. But after all, she was still her daughter... And maybe she deserved to die from her claws?
Opal wasn't always a good person. To be honest, she wasn't a good person at all. But still, she had a good life. Opal's ghost could seek revenge, but what was the point? Her death was deserved. Now she may rest in peace.
