Laika is a pretty rogue Brond brings home, smitten with her unusual markings and kind eyes. Sheena is a little jealous at first, but the two become fast friends once they get to know each other.
Laika finds she doesn't particularly want a romantic partner, male or female. She wants cubs, at some point, but she’s definitely not as attracted to Brond as he is to her. Luckily, Brond is hard to offend, and they swiftly settle into friendship.
She later has twins with Brond (platonically), named Nyota (“star”) and Nyoka (“snake”). Laika named her daughter for strength and her son for beauty, she’s a clever lady.
When her son Nyota leaves as an adult, it hits Laika hard. Not long after, Nyoka follows him. And, her second litter comes at the worst possible time, leaving her stressed and spread too thin. She does her best to be a good mother to the new cubs, and luckily, their broodmother Kuishi is there to help out. Ujana and Kulala grow into kind, loving lionesses.
Her third litter is conceived after Brond’s death, with a different sire. Msaka and Tadhadari are her last cubs, and very adored. Tadhadari leaves to seek her fortune, but Msaka joins the allied Hidden Valley Pride.
When her last litter is grown, Laika goes on a walk one day and doesn’t come back. When the rest of the Pride find her, she’s curled lifelessly under a tree. It looks like she was bitten by a snake. No one is sure if it was an accident, or if she had decided it was time and hastened her end, but her death seems to have been peaceful, and she is mourned by her loving pride.
