Cassio used to be the best hunter. She was the best at bringing down prey that only males could. She was fast and brutal. She always ate right after the king. She was second in command.
Then she started to act different. She became unreliable. She'd leave mid hunt to start her own hunt, leaving the pride members with big prey they couldnt take down without her. She liked to show everyone needed her. She pulled away from the pride, snapping at everyone. The only one she listened to and respected was Kioshi. But then he was driven out of the territory when Nyx took over.
Cassio left for what seemed like weeks before she returned. But she didnt say a word. She killed the prey but broke the laws of the pride and immediately began devouring the carcass, not leaving anyone including the new queen eat. She was brutal to the new queen. And knowing the queen was young and new to fighting she took that as an oppurtinuty. In the middle of the night she attacked.
The fight lasted around half an hour long. Cassio was quick and aimed for Nyx's neck. But Nyx's thick mane acted like armour. They went back and forth. Cassio was almost 7 years old. Almost as old as Kioshi. She was getting slower over her years, her strength fading. And shes never seen Nyx fight. Nyx slapped Cassio then slid down, grabbing onto Cassios neck and Cassio stumbled back, lowering her head to gaurd her neck then Nyx jumped ontop of her, digging into her back. Cassio reared, trying to knock her off but instead Nyx cut down her back, ripping off a big portion of skin off her back. Cassio screeched, collasping onto the ground. Nyx had won. But Nyx had respect for Cassio and called her healers and they quickly went to work.
Cassio was to be banished. But first Nyx needed a cub so she bred with her. Cassio didnt fight back anymore. Her last hope of becoming queen herself was gone. Soon enough she left the pride to give birth. Two beautiful twin sisters, they were gorgeous. Cassio loved them with all her heart. But the third one. It disgusted her. It had a pelt covered in stars and colors of a night sky. Nyx's coat. Cassio hissed and shoved the third cub away. Refusing to feed her and trying countless times to get rid of her.
But the cub didnt die. Hesperos saw what Cassio was doing and quickly took her place. Taking the little one in and giving her her own milk. Hesperos loved the cub and despised Cassio for trying to kill her. Now completely attached to the little one she'll become her new mother and train her to be a hunter herself. Without Cassio.
Once the cub is weened Cassio will be exiled. Not allowed to ever show her face again or it'll get ripped off. Maybe she'll join Kioshi? No. She wont.
Hesperos is a great warrior. A younger version of Cassio. She took her place not only as the babys mother but in the whole pride. She used to look up to Cassio but now she is disgusted by Cassio. On the night the baby weans she plans to escort Cassio and sell her to someone else. She doesnt care what happens to Cassio she just doesnt want her back. If she sells her maybe a lion from far away will buy her.
She fears for the babys life most. Cassio may come back to kill the little one. Hesperos wasnt going to let that happen. Ever.

Hesperos snaps at Cassio and Cassio growls back as they enter your territory. Hesperos looks at you and you hand her the bag of coin. Hesperos then shoves Cassio forward,
"She'll be a great hunter. An even greater bodygaurd. Cassio and my pride has had our complications and she is no longer allowed to join our pride ever again. I imagine she'll like it here better anyway."
Hesperos grumbles, glaring at Cassio one last time before she turn and left.
