The redder the jewel, the more likely that Mel has already slipped away with it in her possession. She had a tough start to life, her mother was killed by an elephant seeking revenge and her father was too busy trying to encourage more lionesses to join his pride than to care about his only daughter. A determined adolescent, she taught herself to hunt but found that it was harder without guidance, her body thin and weak as she tried to keep herself full on rodents and lizards. However, she found that stealing from other prides who had full hunting teams was much easier. Would spend hours following a hunting party and stealing a part of their kill when the correct opportunity arose. This quickly upgraded to stealing items from prides, from animal skulls, and pelts to jewellery and other body adornments. She slowly built up a great collection of silver beetles, enough for her to strike out on her own and feel secure. She stumbled into Mwasaa one rainy night, who offered her den at her pride to keep out of the elements for a while. Melicu at first thought it was an opportunity to steal but found that she was welcomed by this pride, and quickly made fast friends with a few of the lionesses that were similar ages to her. It was hard, but she settled to pride life and the only thing she steals are meals from the sub males when she wants a laugh.
