Cihuateteotl | The Vampire Princess

The twin sister of Tezcatlipoca's chosen heir, she was thrown to the wayside since birth in favor of her supposedly more prodigious brother. This sparked resentment in her from the start, from the way her mother doted on her brother to the way the pride smothered him in adoration. Her pelt shimmered with the same otherworldly light, why did she not receive the same treatment?

Her jealousy grew.

When she and her brother grew to an age where they were expected to train, Cihuateteotl took to it like a crocodile to the water. Her ferocity and urge to be seen as greater fueled her more than her naturally timid brother, and she quickly overtook him in the art of war. At a young age she could take on some of the more experienced lionesses, and with each victory she looked to her father- and each time, she could see the glint of approval in the wicked eyes of the king Tezcatlipoca.

Now as a full-fledged adult, she watches from the side as he still tries to get Tōnatiuh to become his perfect heir, knowing full well that that could never possibly happen. In fact, she almost hopes it doesn't, for perhaps then the King would see that the ideal heir was not in her lowly brother but in herself. She knows she could lead the pride with the same viciousness of her father, and she yearns for the chance to prove once and for all that she could succeed him not as a Queen, but as a King.
