As a cub, Clover was adopted by the pride's previous leader. She was abandoned by her mother, and by adopting her the leader saved her life, for which she was infinitely grateful.
Probably because of that when he died Clover was the only one who refused to move on. He was her savior, her father and best friend. She was grieving for a long time, and then, one day... Anza showed up.
At this point the pride was ruled by Silky for a few months now. She was a good queen, but she knew that she wasn't strong enough to keep the pride save, so she kept looking for a strong male to take her place. Anza arrived at their lands just when he was needed the most. Maybe he wasn't the proud, strong and noble king that the pride was hoping for, but he seemed to be enough for Silky...
Clover had a different opinion.
She knew that the pride needed a new ruler, a replacement for her father, she understood it. But why Anza? He was just pathetic! Yeah, he was nice, and? He needed much more to be a good king! When Clover tried to talk with Silky about it, the queen said that Anza has potential that she can't ignore. Yeah, right! "Potential". She was just desperate for someone to do her job for her...
Unfortunately, the pride seemed to have the same opinion as Silky.
Clover refused to just accept it.
She began spending most of her days far away from the rest of the pride. During one of her lonely walks she encountered a young male lion. He had black, glossy fur, thick mane, he seemed to he strong and gracious... In one word - Perfect. His name was Snake, and his only flaw was his blindness.
Clover didn't mind it, even blind he was way better than Anza! Unfortunately, he was too young to take over a pride... But that also wasn't a problem! Clover decided to keep him around. She showed him a nice hidden spot on their pride's land where she visited him everyday. Whenever they met, Clover always told Snake about her awful king. She told him how lazy, incompetent, and useless he was. Maybe it wasn't entirely true, but it made Snake dislike Anza, and that's what Clover was going for.
When the right time came, Clover finally introduced Snake to the pride. She hoped for Anza to attack the younger lion, only for Snake to defend himself and embarass Anza in front of his pride, but to Clover's surprise none of that happened.
Anza not only welcomed Snake in the pride with his disgusting "kindness", but worst of all, Snake actually fell for it! They were supposed to fight to death, not laught together like old friends!
Clover was incredibly disappointed in Snake.
He even tried to convince her that Anza isn't so bad and she should try to get to know him better! How could he!

Days passed, and at some point Clover had to admit that Anza maybe really wasn't that bad. I mean, he was still pathetic, but she got used to him. He wasn't so entirely useless either...
She also finally forgave Snake for "betraying" her. They became friends again, and after a while their friendship even turned into something more... Of course first Clover had to start treating Snake like an actual person, and not just a tool to get rid of Anza.

During one of her patrols with Snake they found a lone lioness sleeping on their territory. Her name was Opal, and even though the start of her relationship with Clover wasn't exactly nice, they actually became friends later on. They turned out to have a similar, snarky personality.
Unfortunately Opal was older than Clover, and she passed away way sooner. Clover truly missed her, and hoped to someday meet her friend again.

When King Hawk took over the pride Clover was the only lioness other than Snake who knew about the king's true nature. She tried to convince Snake to get rid of Hawk multiple times, but her mate always reassured her that he had everything under control.

When Snake passed away, Clover blamed King Hawk for it. She believed that Snake died from overworking himself, even though Maple tried to explain that Snake died from illnesses related to his age.
Clover wanted to avenge her mate somehow, but her own health did not allow her to do so, so for the last months of her life she only supported the secretly emerging opposition with her knowledge and advice.
Clover passed away before Hawk stepped down as a king, so sadly she didn't had the satisfaction of watching his fall.
