Winter was bought out by Anza for silver beetles from her former pride. The pride's king just had too many cubs to take care of, and Winter was the one he decided to give away.
In Anza's pride Mirage took care of the cub and raised it.
Winter quickly befriended Cloudy, one of Anza's daughters. They became best friends, which made Sandy, Cloudy's sister jealous. This led to a small argument between Sandy and Winter. It wasn't anything big, just two cubs calling each other childish insults, but it started a rivarly between them.
They competed with each other on everything! At first it was just races, climbing trees or catching mice, but soon the challenges began to be way more dangerous...
One of these little competitions was about crossing a road full of cars... All the adults were busy at the time, so no one noticed that the cubs were gone. As expected, the competition didn't end well. Nothing happened to Winter, but Sandy got hit by a car. Winter had to drag her unconscious body all the way to The Den.
While Peach was taking care of Sandy, Winter was by her side all the time. When the king's daughter finally woke up Winter refused to admit how worried she was... Their rivarly started all over again when Sandy got better, but this time they were more careful when coming up with new challenges.

When Sandy was old enough to have cubs, she left the pride to look for a lion that could be their father. Anza chose Winter to go with her.
Winter was actually alright with it. Sandy can be pretty reckless sometimes, so it's good that she wasn't going alone.
During their trip, Sandy tried to annoy Winter all the time, but to Sandy's surprise, Winter wasn't in the mood for arguing... She didn't know what was going on. She wasn't mad at Sandy, but for some reason being around her made her uncomfortable and frustrated. Why?
After a few days of wandering, the lionesses found the pride of king Solaris.
At first the king looked like a normal lion, maybe a little purple, but still a lion. However when the lionesses came closer they realised that Solaris wasn't a lion - He was a hellhound. Sandy was curious how his cubs would look like... I mean, he had a pride full of lionesses, and some of them had cubs, so he had to be able to breed with lions, right? Winter tried to stop her. They had no idea how hellhounds work, maybe she won't survive giving birth to half-blood cubs? What if they'll be deformed? It was too dangerous, too risky... Buuut Sandy wasn't listening.
She spent a few days with king Solaris, and when she was sure that she's pregnant, she and Winter came back to Anza's pride.
During Sandy's pregnancy Winter was worried all the time... She checked if her rival was alright at least ten times a day! During one of her visits, Sandy decided to finally ask her what is going on with her?! "I don't know, I just care about you, you stupid fur-brain!" Winter yelled in response. She seemed to be as surprised as Sandy when the words left her mouth. After that, they talked for hours. About their feelings, their relationship, all their stupid competitions... And they ended up realising that they both felt something different lately. Something warm and fuzzy... And they felt it everytime they saw each other. Sandy thought that it's just hatred and anger, in a weird, fluffy form. But Winter knew that it's something else.
They weren't sure how to act... They decided to maybe, just for a while, try to be mates..? Like Iris and Anza, or Clover and Snake. Usually, the pair consisted of two lions of opposite sexes, but they already had Cherrystripe in the pride, who openly said that she was interested in lionesses, not male lions.
When they announced their decision to the pride, everyone was happy for them! Cloudy seemed unsure of their relationship, but congratulated them anyway.
When Sandy finally gave birth to her little furball of a cub, she was exhausted... Winter was right, giving birth to hellhound's cub was much harder than a regular one. Sandy spent a few days in the Medicine Den, and when she finally got better, she decided to name her daughter Blizzard. Of course she refused to admit that she named the cub after Winter...
Sandy and Winter raised Blizzard together, and they managed to protect her from the still unknown cause of cubs' deaths.
