Crush was one of the cubs from The Den Under The Sand. She was there to be adopted by another pride, because she wasn't needed in the one she was born in.
Unlike other cubs her age, Crush had no hope for finding a new home. Of course she was grateful for the opportunity that she received, but she knew that her chances are low. All newcomers looking for new members for their prides preferred more energetic and promising cubs, or at least those with an interesting appearances. Unfortunately, Crush had neither of those. She was quiet and lonesome, and in her opinion her looks were pretty bland.
She started changing when she befriended an older cub,
Jagged. They were both sure that they won't be adopted - Jagged was getting to old for it, and Crush just wasn't worth adopting. They supported each other for a long time. By Jagged's side, Crush started to gain more confidence.
Everything changed when
King Anza of The Lake Land arrived. He not only adopted Crush, but also Jagged! They couldn't be more happy to hear those news.
They joined Anza's pride, where Crush decided to change her name. Jagged helped her to come up with one that will fit her, and they ended up choosing "Sunshine".
Sunshine was getting more and more confident and social by each day. She gained lots of new friends, and so did Jagged. It made them drift apart a little, but they still had a great relationship and enjoyed each others company.
Back at The Den Under The Sand, Sunshine liked to observe other cubs rather than play with them. She liked to notice patterns in their behaviors and watch their interactions. This trait has stayed with her despite all the changes that have taken place in her, she still enjoyed watching others.
It was through observation that she noticed what an interesting lioness
Snow Cap was. Snowie was known as a loner among her pridemates. She just enjoyed being on her own, she didn't need other lions. Sunshine realized that Snow Cap had a really interesting hobby - collecting flowers. She was making decors out of them or drying them only to segregate them by colour. She also decorated her nest with them, which Sunshine decided to compliment.
As a thank you, Snow Cap gifted her a colorful bouquet of flowers she collected. She was so nervous and adorable when she approached Sunshine to give her the bouquet...
After that, Sunshine decided to spend more time with Snowie. Of course she made sure to don't make the other lioness uncomfortable, but she seemed to actually enjoy Sunshine's company.
When Snowie realized that Sunshine kept the flowers that she gave her, she gave her a Fresh bouquet. When the fresh one died as well, she got another one. Later it happened again, and again, and again... It has become a tradition between them.
When Snowie started working on her little garden, Sunshine immediately volunteered to help her.
When Hawk became the pride's new king and introduced new roles, Sunshine decide to quit being a huntress and became a border guard instead.
When she wasn't patrolling The Lake Land's borders, Sunshine spent time with Snow Cap in her garden. She wasn't as passionate about flowers as her friend, but she liked to see her happy, so she always listened when Snow Cap talked about new plants she grew, even if she was talking about them for hours.
After Jagged's death, Sunshine got pretty depressed. They weren't as close as when they were as cubs anymore, but the fact that Jagged was gone still hurt. Sunshine missed seeing her by the hoard when she was leaving to guard the borders.
The only place where Sunshine could forget about Jagged was Snow Cap's garden. For that reason, she began to spent even more time there.
After some time, the pain disappeared, Sunshine accepted Jagged's death. Despite this, she did not stop visiting the garden. When she finished working as a border guard and retired, she decided to live in the garden with the Snow Cap. Peace and quiet were what they both needed now. This does not mean, however, that they did not receive guests or that they did not visit The Den themselves.
One day, Sunshine and Snow Cap were visited by someone new. A young lioness named
Amina. She was barely an adolescent when she showed up at their garden. Amina was one of new lionesses who joined the pride when Oleander became a king. She was also one of the new queen's three sisters. All three of them were known to be quite troublesome, but Amina seemed to be the calmest one. She wanted to run away from the reputation of her sisters and become her own person, so in search of herself she visited The Garden. Snow Cap and Sunshine gladly welcomed her into their home.
