Freya was born in the Chaotic Kingdom to a lioness who cared more about herself than anyone else. Freya learned from a young age to rely on herself, and she found herself more inclined to prove herself as an exceptional warrior for the king's crusades rather than aid her mother in becoming the most prized lioness in their homeland. Freya found herself a decent warrior, but it was her reckless behavior that caught the attention of a lion named Haidar, an Heir Apparent for the kingdom. She was part of many of his missions, and the two grew close, so it was no surprise when Haidar took over from his father and named her his first concubine. Freya accepted, knowing it was an honor that her mother had never achieved.

Freya did not mind when Haidar brought in more concubines, but she did have a sliver of doubt in Chaos when she got pregnant after a bad batch of tackweed and cotton root bark. Haidar allowed the concubines who got pregnant to raise one cub from the litter, but he made it clear none of them would be considered heirs. Freya was lucky, perhaps, as she only gave birth to one son, Ragnar. Like most of the lionesses in the pride, Freya did not have much in the ways of motherly instincts. She treated her son as any other cub and warrior, but she could not help but be proud once in a while as he accomplished much in his life.

Freya heard about the fifth concubine when Haidar and the queen Hildr introduced her to the palace. She found herself pitying the former broodmother, as it was clear she was not the same as the rest of the pride. Freya rather thought she was a better version of her mother, and it endeared Gry to the lioness. When Gry ran off with Haidar's daughters, Freya considered her brave but stupid, as Gry was blind to how she had changed and shaped the pride. From a king to an emperor, Freya knew Haidar would only need Gry to remain the perfect lion to ensure Chaos.

Freya obtained an injury in a battle soon after the shift to an empire. Haidar and Hildr granted her the esteemed position of Palace Keeper, the lion in charge of keeping the palace in order. When Haidar found his lost queen in a distant valley, Freya agreed to accompany the emperor and become the keeper of his new palace.
