She had quickly proven herself the strongest of all her other siblings and the older lions of her pride recognized her potential. As she aged, her father had her partake mostly in battle training. She, however, found a passion towards herbs like the shaman of her pride. She was chastised for this, punished for sneaking off to learn from the pride's shaman, and eventually ran away to live her own life when she was close to adulthood. For the remainder of her life she lived alone. She settled in a small dirt cave within a tropical forest where she could find a majority of the herbs she needed. She lived her life giving aid to any that came to her or that she found on her adventures. As she grew and aged, she made a few friends along the way. She befriended a young Fischer's' lovebird named Amani, an old bat-eared fox named Kadija, and a nameless dotted frog that would occasionally hang around her den. During a severe drought, she was stocking up on herbs to help supply nearby animals with water so none succumbed to dehydration when her den was raided by vicious and desperate lionesses. In her efforts to defend her home and friends, she was remorselessly slain and her body was eaten. Amani and Kadija were also killed within the raid and the dotted frog had been long gone after the drought had begun. As a lost soul, Barika searched the desolate lands for her friends but could never find them. On her long travels, she came across the Sinkeeper who offered her shelter and aid in helping her companions. She reluctantly accepted but hardly would stay to search for the other souls. One day, when another great deity had come, the Sinkeeper had brought the souls of a young Fischers' lovebird, an old bat-eared fox, and a nameless frog to her.
