Upon birth, Fern and
Willow were nearly unrecognizable from eachother. Sadly, their triplet brother had been stillborn; with their mother dying shortly after their birth. The cubs didn't have an easy life, starting out with dead parents.
Both of the girls stumbled around without a sense of direction, finally wandering upon a lioness named "Wenet", who promised to take care of them as long as they helped her spread the "Anti-bunny agenda". This led to Fern quickly grasping the concept of hunting, going after rabbits that she and Willow could survive on. All that while the other cub helped the masked lioness with spreading poison. Not much changed for the next couple months, until one of Fern's hunts led to not only failure, but meeting another lion.
In a wild chase after one of the rabbits, Fern bumped right into a scary older lion, his eyes like two orbs full of hell itself. Letting out a high pitched sqeak, the young cub instantly knew that she had to flee. To her dismay, the short-maned lion didn't plan on letting her flee. With his claws unsheathed he instantly flew into a chase. This was it. This was the end, Fern thought.
The lion was right behind her. No cub could survive an encounter like that. Yet, in a glint of luck another lion charged at the one behind her. Fern turned back, watching the tussle amongst the two dark lions, before one finally gave way and fled bleeding. As she later learned, this was
Lyres, the king whose lands she was on.
The other lion didn't seem to have any malicious intent. It was a worried lioness with a... mane? She later introduced herself as "
Kodiak. The lioness promised Fern a true home, one where she wouldn't have to worry about death or hunger. Because, supposedly, the female sensed an abnormality within the cub. Yet, Fern refused, citing her sister as a reason. She couldn't abandon her, after all! Kodiak simply gave her a smile, promising a home to Willow too. And so, young Fern guided Kodiak to Wenet and Willow. After a short discussion between Wenet and Kodiak, the young twins were allowed to follow the maned lioness to their new home.
Due to the pride's issues to tell the twins apart, in the end Kodiak tied flowers of different colours to their paws, so both of the cubs could be easily identified.
INTERACTIONS
π΅πππ gets a liiiiittle too close to your muzzle for comfort, so you give a warning snarl and she scurries away, no doubt to annoy another pride member.
π΅πππ wants to play king of the hill. Er, king of your shoulders. Versus your tail. Is your tail winning? Yah, totally winning. Your tail is awesome.
You grin at π΅πππ and asked if she found out where the wildebeests were moving to, like you asked her to yesterday. Her greeting faltered and she looked guilty. Oh, she forgot. Again.
π΅πππ's ears perk slightly, but she does not acknowledge you as you approach, as she is snoozing.
π΅πππ is too absorbed in scratching at the ground to notice your presence.
