☆ - Thea ~ “God's Gift” - ☆
Thea was abandoned by her mother, left to die in a shallow river bed. However, there was an intervention, a divine intervention. The great lion ancestors took pity upon her kind soul, and transformed her. Draconic black wings sprouted from her back, along with black horns, scales and spines. She was immortalized and given a second chance.
All of this magical energy alerted the attention of a nearby oracle, Divinity. Divinity discovered the young dragon hybrid, still weak laying in the river. Understanding what miracle had just happened from all the residual energy, she took the cub in as her own and brought her home to her pride. There she mentored and raised Thea, teaching her the ways of spirituality and magick.
Thea’s connection to the ancestors has made her a medium, she is used as a vessel by the pride to speak to spirits of the past. However wIth her youth immortalized, there will always be things she will not understand. She doesn't understand why all her friends get so big and don’t want to play as much anymore, and she doesn't understand why or how her loved ones become spirits. She doesn't let it bother her too much though, she is very cuddly and playful. She loves lifting her small friends into the air and flying them around, along with sneaking up on pride members from the sky! Despite not having use of her back legs, she is still a very skilled hunter using her wings for an advantage.
☆ - Her Mentor's Lore! - ☆
The soft music of clinking bracelets foretells the presence of the oracle Divinity. Blessed with sacred visions that have guided her since cubhood, this matronly lioness never strays from the path of the gods. She hears the will of the ancestors. They whisper to her as shadows curl and stretch through the dusk. With her eyes cast into the fog of the metaphysical, she navigates the world with wisdom and grace. Divinity painstakingly untangles the threads of fate so that the true path is visible to her pride. The machinations of the universe are no simple matter. Yet this is Divinity’s lot in life. She understands her sacred duty and will carry it out until the end of her days.
Before she became a member of her current pride, Divinity was a nomad who would tell lions their fortunes in exchange for a meal. Her empathetic nature fed her desire to use her gifts to serve others. Occasionally, she would feel lonely. Without a home and family to call her own, she often found herself talking to the stars in her free time. She also conversed frequently with the ancestors, who started whispering to her when she was very young. Her parents thought she had lost her mind when she started spouting prophecies. This was why she lived alone. Most lions found her abilities unnerving. She was drinking from a clear pool when the vision struck— the one that would change her life forever. She saw a group of lions living in harmony together, guided to prosperity by Divinity’s connection to the ancestral plane. The waters before her warped and shifted, showing how far she’d need to travel to reach this pride. The ancestors told her she’d be celebrated there. She’d be valued. Loved. Excited by the prospect of kinship and family, she began her long and arduous journey. She is more than content living amongst pride mates who adore and care for her. Here, she feels like the luckiest lioness in the world (although she knows it was destiny, not luck, that brought her to this place).
These days, Divinity is preoccupied with caring for Thea, the sweet little cub who was granted immortality by the gods. Initially marked for death but spared by the almighty harbingers of fate, this winged cub is an oracle in training. Divinity’s gentle patience and motherly instincts make her the perfect mentor for young Thea. The older lioness quickly realized after meeting Thea that the god-touched youngster would become her new purpose in life. “The ancestors always sing for those who know how to listen,” she explains when Thea asks how she knew to find her. The two of them spend their days together meditating, practicing witchcraft, and seeking out sacred locations that thin the veil between the living and the dead. Divinity often feels as if she has her paws full with Thea. She never loses her temper and always offers praise over beration, but she often finds herself exhausted after long sessions of convincing her charge to sit still. “Distractions spell danger, my precious one. If you lose control of your magic, you could get seriously hurt.” Thea argues that she’s already defied death so there isn’t much that can harm her. Divinity shakes her head with worry and beseeches the cub to focus. Channeling the energies of the ancestors is serious business. If the spirits overtaking Thea’s body become too much for her to handle, she could lose herself to the great beyond. This is why she has Divinity to guide her. This is Divinity’s purpose— for who better to become oracle once she is gone than a lion who will never die?
Divinity loves Thea. She’s thankful to the gods for sparing the cub’s life. Thea has an innate curiosity and a caring heart. Divinity is always happy to answer Thea’s thousand questions. She has come to view her as her daughter and will treat her as such. She enjoys the family fate has blessed her with and will continue to practice magic for the good of the pride. This is the path the ancestors have laid out for her. As far as she’s concerned, it’s a good one— especially now that she has someone to share it with.
