Fate tried. Endless dream walks she couldn't wake up from lead her near volcanoes and viper dens and hyenas feeding on rotten prey. But whenever death held his reaper above her, she seemed to disappear, shifting and churning and twisting until there was no more. When she turned up in Morkant's kingdom, she knew better than to try and fight Tyche's protection on Skylix. She let her stay, because she knew killing, or at least trying to kill, Skylix would bring nothing but destruction to her home, her pride, and everything she had crafted with her claws and teeth and blood.
