Backstory
๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ was raised well in a protected pride until she got caught sneaking around with a lion she shouldn't have been with. Nobody knows if its young love or friendship, that is up for ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ to decide along the way. Eventually she was kicked out of her pride and has been searching for a new home, so slowly she wonders through the vast lands of lioden just to stumble across a massive primal. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ is on the journey to find the perfect home for her and future generations to come. At first everything seems great here in this pride, everyone is loved, respected, and treated as an equal. As time passed this home started to seem too perfect. . . ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ knew deep down something was off and decided to get information on what was really wrong, if there was something wrong here.
Later it's dinner time, the entire pride sits down to feast on the latest kill. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ sits down across the heir of the pride, another primal with wings?! Such an odd sight. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ sheepishly studies the pride members around her as soon as she turned her gaze to the king of these lands they locked eyes. He had such a cold stare, the weirdest part was that he didn't even look away when she looked. At this point ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ knew something was off and she was going to figure out what. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ asks to be excused from the dinner group and left to the kings den in secret, she needed answers now. It was cold, dark, with a horrible scent reeking from the cracks of the walls. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ slouches closer to the walls to try getting a peak inside of them. She swiftly turns around to see it suddenly starts raining, lighting strikes to reveal the form of a primal. . oh no she's been caught!? Lightning strikes once again and. . .is that. . wings? It's the heir, he slowly walks over to ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ as if he's being cautious. ' 'You shouldn't be here. . .it's not safe for you. ' ' ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ tilts her head not understanding the situation fully. ' 'Why isn't it safe? ' ' The heir pauses with fear striking his face. ' 'If you stay you'll be put in the walls to die. . . our king eats lion meat, for fun.' ' ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ's face turns pale, was she possibly the primal's next meal?! ' 'Why do you stay! Why do they all stay?! This king is obviously out of his mind!' 'The heir aggressively turns to ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ not wanting to bring the kings attention here. ' 'I stay to save this pride, they stay for the power and because they're forced to. As long as no one is out of line they live. Unfortunately we're out of line and can possibly die! Well, you, not me I believe. The king is planning to take over all of lioden so he can have all the fresh lion meat he desires. This is why you need to leave as SOON as you can!' ' ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ's heart pounded like the thunder hearing this. ' 'How will I escape without getting caught? The Queen and royal Bloodline will for sure tattletale on me!' ' ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ tries holding back her tears also not wanting to bring attention to the den. ' 'I will help with that.' ' Thunder strikes once more and the heir's silhouette disappears. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ bolts as fast as she can out of the den that reeked with the dead Lion scent, back to the dinner group. ' 'Well, where have you been?' ' The king glared at ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ, he knew where she's been. ' 'I went out to get a drink.' 'The massive primal king rised, shadow dominating the ground.' 'We don't like liars here, ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ. Are you a liar?' ' ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ's eyes couldn't remain on the king's. ' 'Once again, I went out to get a drink.' ' The heir panicked inside knowing she wasn't a very good liar. She reeked of the king's den scent. ' 'Well, that's a shame.' ' The king bolts towards ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ with a brutal glare, for sure he was going to end her life there. The heir swiftly got up and tripped the king, giving ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ more time to escape. With all her energy, ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ runs for her life not wanting to be a primal's meal. The heir watches ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ run knowing he'll be in deep trouble, ' 'At least an innocent lioness will be safe today. ' ' Possibly speaking his final words that night?
When ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ felt safe she came to a stop to catch her breath. She knew some of those pride members were miserable and wanted freedom. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ was a lioness who was true to herself and others, she wanted them to be free too. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ carefully created a plan to kill this primal and save these lions. She'll need to find more kings whose virtues are similar to her with a strong pride. ๐
๐ฏ๐ฌ๐จ๐ข๐ซ knew this was official, war was going to break loose in these parts of Lioden. War she'd start. ' 'Let's do this.' '
Traveled to
Star Shifter
broken traveled for days, worried about the pride she has to save. a group of lionesses see a white body being picked apart, by vultures and crows, one of them carefully sniff the still Body a light breath still when threw her veins. broken opens her eyes, she struggles to get up. " why are you in star shifters hunting grounds?!' the lioness didn't hesitate to loom over the scared and distorted lioness. broken let out a small breath before speaking , " im sorry I didn't know this was someone's territory" a mother lion approaches , this time a more pale one. " don't frighten her prairie she was half died a second ago!" bright love this is not a cub!' the two lionesses bickered for a moment more. broken guesses the first reddish lioness was prairie and the nicer one was bright love. broken tried to get away but accidentally backed up into another one. ~how many more are there?~ a thought went threw her head. she quickly turned around. "oh hi' she said with a stressed look, it was ANOTHER lioness. the three circled her, then bright love finally broke the silence. " we have decided to let you come to our pride, then star shifter would decide what to do with you" broken nodded her head. the walk was warm and dry, broken wanted to pass out again. ~how many days was i there for? it couldn't have been that long...~ after arrival to a shaded area with three trees and a wide cave a male lion jumped onto a low hanging tree.< he let out a low roar> "state your name lioness and why you are here" he didn't let out very much emotion. "my name is.. broken, and I need help to save a pride" lions around me began to growl. " you came here because you need help with your dimwitted pride that can't take care of its self?" ~I could tell his temperament is rising~ "king what is your name?" broken tried to calm him down "my name is king star shifter" broken bowed "king star shifter may I talk to you alone?" she pleaded. "I suppose, my lionesses and cubs please dismiss yourselfs" broken watched as the others gave her snarles and mean looks, Except of bright love whom head butted her sweetly. broken recognized her. she walked up to king star shifter who was sitting under the large shaded tree "broken, what did you wish to speak about" "well" she trailed of .. she then told him the horrific story "oh I see..." star shifter sighed, he took a moment to comprehend the situation . " how can me and my pride help..?" broken light up in happyness, she could get help! " thank you so much star shifter!" broken exclaimed " well you could actually tell me how we could help you" " oh yeah.. heh... well I need some days to get better and I need help to find another pride to come with us, ill also need your strongest lionesses, for when the war is to start." well ill get you some more food, two days and we will then be ready, when ever you are." broken was so happy, also wishing this was the pride she was born into, but know she can save another, and help all the lions stuck in harsh horrible prides. " one last thing" said star shifter " the lions that will help when war breaks out are blazing gemstone, blushed horizon and prairie sunrise. ~ after I sleep and meet the lions that will help with the war, prairie sunrise took me to my next pride, key words strong and tuff~
King of the Jungle โ friend โ
After traveling some time through prairie, through dry and cracked plains of empty barren land, the sight of a dense tree line and river had her running for respite from the arid heat. Broken found herself greedily gulping down cold water, slaking her thirst before entirely processing her surroundings.
"It's dangerous to travel alone" A deep, smooth voice spoke out from somewhere amongst the trees around her. She jumped back, tense and looked around for the source of the voice.
"I'm sorry if I've intruded, this time of year is positively brutal and I desperately needed water to continue my journey." She said, eyes scanning the foliage. She spotted a dark shape moving between the trees, only a glimpse before a great black lion stepped out into full view. The king was sleek, with an aged wisdom about their eyes. Though there was something off about them, Broken couldn't quite tell until-
"You can relax, you're in safe company. To where do you travel?" The melanistic king said, watching the lioness before them.
"You're.. winged?" Broken said, remembering the heir of her past. The king nods, amused at her observational skills. Broken wondered if this kindly king would be of any aid to her, either to find a new home or.. find the aid she desperately needed.
"Yes, a gift from the stars. I am the king of this land." A gift from the stars? Would certainly explain they aura of this lion who stood before her. Maybe they'd be able to help after all.
"I am traveling seeking shelter and aid, a war is coming. My former pride, my former.. king.. he's mad." Broken goes on to explain her terrible backstory and is met with saddened eyes.
"I cannot shelter you, but perhaps I can aid you in some other way. My territory is too small, my fighting prowess alone, too weak" says the king. "But I can give you a gift as was bestowed to me, a blessing and a warning." The king came closer to her. "I've seen far too much cruelty in kings who ought not to have the gift of leadership in the first place, it sickens me. I will give you a gift to hasten your paws across this land, you will continue west. A strong, noble pride there you'll find, I have faith they will aid your cause further and help bring your so-called ex king to his karmic justice." *The king picked up his front paw, the pad glowing blue with comet dust, and pressed their paw to hers. Broken felt a tingling sensation in her paws, one after the other. Not even the heat of the great fires could touch her now. "Go now" The king said. "Danger follows on your heels and you mustn't tarry in this place long." Broken looked down at her paws but when she looked up to thank the king, they were gone and she was alone again.
"Continue west?" She looked around. "West.. alright.." And so she did, mind in a whirl after that admittedly strange and fleeting experience with a lion from the stars.
Omega Kabash
She stumbled west panting hard, her tongue felt like sandpaper from the lack of water. Despite the blessing from the previous king it felt like her paws were being burned on the hot rocks. Had the king led her astray? led her to her death? This felt like the end, the land in front of her wiggling from the heat. She shook her head. No. She must press on. She had a mission and a war to be won. Survival was key and she needed water or everything would fall apart here. The rocks ahead of her would test her mettle, but she pressed on, racing through the heat keeping her head on a swivel for a hint of water. Wind flew through her fur, keeping her from combusting on the spot. Finally, after what seemed like forever, she could spot a blip of green in the distance. Where there was green there had to be water! Energy filled her and she ran faster pumping her legs through the burn. The green grew larger and larger. She began to see trees and bushes and the harsh gleam of water. She paid no mind to anything as she barreled through the underbrush collapsing next to the water and drinking heavily. The cool liquid tasted divine, and she could feel each drop slowly trickle down her throat and pool in her stomach. She drank until it hurt her stomach and rested her head on the ground eyes drooping. She blinked slow, eyes drooping barely registering another lioness walking over, great long curled horns protruding from her head.
"Please... help" She croaked out before her eyes closed for the last time, no energy to open them again.
~
The first thing she felt as she slid back into consciousness was cold. She made a soft noise and opened her eyes looking around. Around here were dark tall cave walls. Around the cave there was moss and lichen coating areas here and there, with mushrooms scattered all around. She flicked her ears hearing the bubble of a stream nearby and whispers. She slowly sat up feeling her paws were much heavier. she looked down to see small mossy pebbles pressed against her paw pads, wrapped around with large tree leaves. She heard soft papads and looked up more to see the lioness she vaguely remembered before passing out before.
"No need to get up young one, you need all the rest you can get. Your pads are burnt and you're very dehydrated." The lioness laid down beside her. "The moss will help rehydrate your pads and keep you cool. My name is Cinnabun I am one of the elder queens here. Our king is called Kabash, they should be here soon to hear your plea for help."
She looked at the queen who spoke to gently despite her mean appearance. "Thank you"
Cinnabun laid down beside her looking over her paws. Broken was lulled into sleep again lowering her head. It was nice and cool in the cave and the moss really did feel so good. Before she knew it her eyes were closed again basking in the temporary peace. She was roused by soft thudding coming closer slowly blinking open her eyes.
"Is this the lioness?" the king stood tall above her form. She squinted her eyes taking in the silhouette, her eyes slowly adjusting. What a strange-looking lion. They were tall and fluffy with.... oh were those... mushrooms growing out of their fur? How strange!
"Yes it is. This is our king, Kabash." Her eyes widened as the king came into focus. Long pointed gleaming teeth paired with massive paws hiding extremely sharp dangerous claws. She let out a wounded sound and scrambled back slipping on the mossy rocks still stuck to her paws. Her heart pounded in her ears, breath getting caught in her throat. No... no she came so far! She nearly died!
"Please... don't kill me. I'll leave, I promise, and I won't say a thing!" She bowed her head low glancing at the cave entrance that unfortunately the king was in front of. She needed to get out, this could not be the pride the winged king wanted her to find.
"Hey woah there, calm yourself young one. I am not going to hurt you" She looked up slowly many panicked thoughts flying through her head. The king smiled warmly and laid down in front of her. "I was told you asked for help correct, and you are injured. Please, tell me your story and I will see if I can aid you" She watched the primal wary, but with no sign of aggression she calmed down and began to tell her story. She started with the pride she was with so long ago, their horrible acts and plans, then continued on to talk about the previous kings she came across. The whole while the primal in front of her listened intently humming softly and nodding here and there. She was shocked as she finished her story, this king had listened to her without inturrupting and he looked like he actually cared. She truly thought another primal would surely take her life.
"This is not good news Kabash. This could ruin our slice of peace here" the queen, Cinnabun said, getting up and pacing making some other lionesses look over. "Our lands, our cubs, are in danger!" She growled low in her throat and whipped around getting up in Broken's face baring her teeth. "Tell us more!"
"Enough Cinnabun." Kabash stood again and smiled at her. "There is plenty of time to plan, but what is most important is that you rest. You came to us on the brink of death and you need to recover. Stay with us a while please. I will reach out to nearby kings that I know and we can teach you how to defend yourself once you are healthy"
She glanced between the queen who rolled her eyes and huffed, and the smiling king and nodded. "Okay... thank you Kabash. I promise I won't be a bother." The king only let out an amused chuff.
"No need to thank me. We take care of our own here."
-
Her time in the den passed faster than she thought. Her paws healed the slowest and it was so hard not to bite or scratch at the healing skin. She got to know more of the lions that called this place home. The playful male that often went patrolling and came back with news here and there, Nubbins. He apparently had been with Kabash for almost their entire rule helping grow their lands. There were also all sorts of odd lions in the cool cave, even female primal lions, which gave her a shock. She often would spend the most time with the pregnant queens and cubs, being situated close to the nesting area of the cave. It was nice and heartwarming to see such young innocent life playing with the moss, batting it around like one would small prey.
She was still quite wary of the king, but was softening up around him. He always checked in on her and would often play with the cubs too. it was simply adorable watching him playfight with them and roll onto his back making fake noises of pain as they 'killed' him. It was far too cute, and she could feel herself slowly warming up to the king with each passing day. She was quickly becoming a big presence with the other lions here, witnessing new cubs born and seeing how they cared deeply for each other. Not a single lion went hungry or thirsty here, and everyone got a visit from the king at least once a day. when fights arose they were talked about and a compromise was always found. It was all so strange to her and it was such a wonderful change of pace from where she came from.
Soon enough her paws were healed and she was feeling much better, some of the queens fretted about letting her train but she knew it was time. As nice as it was she still had a mission to fufill. She met with Cinnabun in a small training area with a couple of other lionesses, one a lion covered in moss and kelp, Swampshroom if she remembered correctly, and another Eldritch Blood Moon, a warm dark colored lioness with flowers adorning her fur. Both she had seen go on hunts and come back with mighty prey.
"We will work on your footwork and dodging first to build up your muscles and speed. Once I think you are solid with that e will move on to attacking." Cinnabun nodded to the two other lionesses who circled around Broken slowly. "Now they will attack slowly at first and not with too much force. Focus on moving out of the way, be ready to move again once you've landed and keep an eye on where you are in the land." Then the two were on her moving slow and she hurried to jump out of the way being slowly pushed back until... SPLASH. She coughed and sputtered rolling back onto the shore, soaking wet. She could see Swampshroom holding back her laughter, mirth glittering in her eyes. "This is why I said to keep an eye out, get up and go again Broken." This was going to be harder than she thought, and it was only going to get worse.
-
More weeks pass, and she was getting much better at moving around and she felt much stronger because of it. Cinnabun started incorporating attacks in and she was very quick on her feet thanks to the winged black king's blessing. The trainings only got more complex and harder as time went on, and boy they tuckered her out. She was resting one night when she felt herself nudged awake by a massive paw. She opened one eye and sat up a bit as Kabash stood by her.
"Hurry come on or we'll miss it!" He whispered quickly and hurried out of the cave. She got up, stretching, before following him. He was sitting on a large rock and looking up. Such an odd king. She padded over to him and laid down. What could be possibly be-oh! Her gaze traveled up to see lights streaking across the starry sky. "There is so much beauty in the world around us Broken, we just have to look." Kabash glanced over to her and smiled. He looked up again before speaking. "Many different lions view these differently. Some say they are the souls of recently departed lions, some say they are our ancestors racing across the sky and playing, and many other possibilities. But what I find most interesting is the lions who think you can make a wish and it will come true." He flicked his tail intertwining it with her own. "You should make a wish Broken. Anything can help in whatever comes of this war."
She watched the streaks for some time, her mind wandering. A wish hm? Well the king could be right. Anything could help. She smiled and leaned against his fluff making her wish. It was a beautiful night, not too hot too. She spent the night with the king enjoying his company.
-
The next day of training was rough for the poor sleep she got, but Cinnabun and the others did not let up one bit. The snarls from the horned queen as she barked out orders were not pleasant but it eventually ended. She apologized for the bad day and promised she would do better next time and she did not let the queen down. Kabash was getting answers back from some kings as well as updates about possible activity from the other king. She needed to step up her game and threw herself harder into training. One day, weeks later Cinnabun stopped the training between them and stepped closer sniffing her coat before flicking her tail.
"Training is finished for a while. You must go nest with the other queens, you are pregnant." Broken paused and her eyes went wide with shock. Pregnant? She had life growing inside her? The elder queen smiled and gave her a gentle nudge. "Go, you have already improved so much and we are gathering more information for you. It is best for you to rest and eat well for the cub inside of you."
"But... my mission! I cannot take a cub with me it's far too dangerous!" She could feel her breath quicken and her mind race. In her mind she could already picture her small cub unable to keep up in the heat, or be torn apart by a less generous group of lions. No... nono! She felt Cinnabun lick her cheek and then over her head.
"Relax, we will take care of the cub here. I know Kabash will offer to make this their home if you want" She looked to the queen and took some slow breaths and nodded. First thing, a nest, and then a talk with Kabash. She licked her cheek as thanks before heading back into the cave. The other pregnant queens helped her make a nice comfy nest. It was nice being around the cubs again, and to think she had her own coming. It was as exciting as it was terrifying.
When Kabash found out the next day he was overjoyed, and, just like Cinnabun predicted, offered to take in the cub permanently if she allowed it. It gave her peace of mind knowing her cub would be well looked after and very safe. It was interesting feeling more hungry than she ever had before and being able to eat so much. Over time she felt sleepy at odd hours and her belly grew. It was nice chatting with the others in nests around her, preparing herself for what was to come.
-
It was rough... but boy was it worth it. She was tired but looking down at the small bundle that drank her milk gave her a renewed sense of hope and determination. She leaned over giving the baby a gentle lick on its head feeling it squirm and whine at the prodding. She heard soft pawfalls and looked over to see Kabash approaching slowly. She flicked her tail in greeting.
"She's beautiful Broken" Kabash gently laid close to the nest looking over the babe. She had large white patches over her body, like herself but much bigger and blotchy-er. She had a rusty-red-colored coat with dark red patches peeking under the white ones that looked a lot like Kabash's. Her underbelly was lighter and her pawpads were a bright pink color. "Do you have a name picked out?"
She smiled, keeping her eyes on her cub. "I will call her Amaryllis." She watched her cub drink, the small hints of ears wiggling back and forth with every swallow. She couldn't wait to see those beautiful eyes open for the first time or hear her child speak to her.
"A beautiful name for a beautiful cub." Kabash leaned forward to lick the cub then turned to groom her. "You did amazing Broken, please rest now. We will watch over you." She smiled up at the king and settled down to rest.
-
She watched her cub play with the others as she came home from training, she couldn't be more proud of her little one. She grabbed some prey and laid down filling her belly. She heard small pitters and looked up seeing her cub. She licked her chops listening to her cub talk about what she did today. Apparently, she had heard of her mother's training and decided to play-tussle with the older cubs, AND she had found it fun! Broken chuckled soft before leaning over and grooming her cub.
She looked up when she saw Kabash walking over with a sad look on his face. Something was wrong. She could feel it. She nudged her cub to go play again and sat up.
"Broken. We have received news of more activity to the south of us." Kabash was not meeting her eyes, his ears were drooping, and his tail hanging low. "I know there are some kings that way that... I am sure will treat you well on your journey there and give you more aid in the times to come." She got up fully and came closer giving him a small nuzzle.
"I understand. It is time for me to move on." She only saw Kabash lower his head a little and look down. Oh. The king would miss her. Glancing around she could see other lionesses looking at her with their heads lowered and ears back. They were all going to miss her. Oh... "I will prepare for the journey and leave in a week." The king nodded and walked away. She settled back down looking around. She had a plan.
-
When she first arrived here a week seemed like a lifetime, but now it seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. Little Ama was very upset at the thought of her leaving and wanted to come with a passion of a thousand suns, but after sitting her down one evening and telling her the story, and the risks, her cub only cried and wailed never leaving her side since. She made sure to spend time with everyone who helped her, especially Cinnabun. But, like all things, she eventually had to leave. She stood at the mouth of the cave looking over all the lions gathered, Kabash standing in the front and center, and her precious Amaryllis at their feet.
"Before I go I wanted to say a few words. I want to first thank you all for your kindness, your patience, and your love. Before I came into your care I had very brief, few memories of such gentleness and generosity. But my time here has healed my heart and body. You gave me kindness, and you gave me strength." She looked at her child, Kabash, Cinnabun... emotions gripped her and she pushed through the sting in her eyes and the tightening of her throat. "I cannot thank you all enough, for everything you gave me while I was here. From my new knowledge of moss retaining water in these harsh times, to finding cheer and playfulness with your cubs, to battle knowledge, and even stories of the night sky" She met Kabash's gaze and saw his eyes widen. "You have given me so much and I will share the knowledge with others, as together we will triumph."
She looked at her cub and Amaryllis walked closer sniffing. She reached out pressing her paws to her cub's. "I give this gift like the king I met before yours gave me. May it hasten your paws." She watched as a golden pale light lit up her cub's paws one by one. "Stay strong and stay kind my little one. One day we will see each other again." Broken knew even if she didn't see her cub again in her life, they may... in the afterlife. Amaryllis nodded, giving her mother some comforting licks. "If you ever miss me my darling, simply look into a pool of water and you will see my eyes."
Broken stepped back and looked at everyone again. She had to go now or she may be tempted to stay. "Thank you again, I am proud to call you my allies in the days to come." She bowed her head and turned, taking off southward.
She heard roars and yeowls behind her as she ran. She couldn't help pausing and throwing her head high letting out a loud roar in answer. Now... she had a long journey ahead of her.
~~~
Epilogue:
She padded through a familiar damp forest, tougher, older... yet far more at peace than she had been in a long long time. War was never pretty and there will still be nights she closes her eyes and sees the large primal lunging for her neck. There will always be days where she hears the drops of rain sliding off leaves and her mind conjures up images of the heir, panting, standing over the primal's body, blood dripping from his maw.
But now was not the time to be dwelling upon the pain in the past, now was the time to move on and tread towards a better future. She pushed past bramble, lifting her head to sniff, trying to find the scents she had spent months surrounded by. Some she recognized and many she did not. She kept moving forward until a growl made her stop.
"You are very bold to come into our..." The lioness came out from the bushes and froze standing up fast and flicking her ears forward. "You.... it's you!" She hurried forward with a smile on her face. "Broken correct? You probably don't remember me. I was still young when you left. My name is Whiteshroom"
She smiled and walked closer rubbing her muzzle against the lioness. "Yes I remember you. You had the same pretty spots as my daughter"
Whiteshroom beamed and other lionesses came out confused. All were quite young, perhaps too young to know who she was. She still gave them polite nods.
"Come on we're calling training early today. We need to celebrate!" Whiteshroom paused and looked a little worried. "We... can celebrate right?"
She smiled and nodded. "Yes everything turned out well in the end." The lioness relaxed and herded her students back to the main cave telling stories about broken all the way.
-
Many familiar faces greeted her, but one certainly gave her a shock. Cinnabun approached slowly, with a slight limp, looking tired and old. She came forward boing her head.
"Oh none of that. Come give this old queen a proper greeting." Amusement flickered in Cinnabuns eyes as Broken rose to greet her. Cold noses touching then muzzled rubbing against each other. She inhaled the old queen's scent again feeling a burning at the back of her eyes. Oh how she missed this place. She groomed Cinnabun's head before pulling back.
"I am happy to be back. Where is my daughter? Kabash?" She looked around ears flicking back and forth.
"Come. I'll bring you to them." She turned and made her way through the cave to a smaller cave in the back. "Kabash, we have a visitor you will want to see." There was shuffling and grunting before a large head poked out looking older than Broken remembered. The king looked over and instantly brightened.
"Broken! You're home!" The king moved with a speed of a young cub barrelling over and pressing his face against hers. "You look amazing! How did things go? Are you okay?"
She laughed and nuzzled him back. "Yes yes everything is fine. It was rough but things are over now." She was not expecting the king to still have all this energy when he looked so old now.
He pulled back and watched her, hope in his eyes. "Does that mean you can stay now?"
