Mawa, Malline, and Dhabi are lionesses who came from the same pride. Compared to the other lionesses in the queen's den, they are considerably older, especially Mawa.
They left their former home when the king was killed by a younger lion who took over the kingdom. Such things are bound to happen among lion prides, but this new leader was cold and seemed to have no heart. All the cubs, male and female, including those in their late teens, were killed, and some lionesses who tried to protect their cubs were also killed.
Unable to bear the pain of grief and the cruelty of the lion, Mawa decided to leave in the dead of night, and when they discovered her plan, Malline and Dhabi followed her.
Dhabi has a sarcastic personality, but this, rather than being a hindrance to the dynamic between her and the others, is actually an interesting spice in their friendship. She does not have the same patience as Mawa and Malline when it comes to teaching the young lionesses, but she contributes in her own way to their lessons.
Joining Micail's pride was not as much of a relief for her as it was for her companions, as she knew that a male would hardly tolerate lion cubs from outside, and Dhabi had gotten involved with a wild lion during the journey, despite the others' warnings that it would not be a good idea, since they were on their own.
Relief came when Micail assured her that her cubs would be safe, and that he would treat them no differently than his own cubs. And so it was. Even though she had given birth to a males, Micail adopted him as his own cub.
When Dhabi moved into the elders’ cave, Malline had already been there for a few months, which was wonderful for Dhabi. Reaching an age where your body is no longer the same is never easy, but company helps. She became a sharp-tongued elder who drew laughter from the youngsters as well as small indignation from the adults. She left only a month after Malline, and it is certain that everyone believes that the trio was together again, in the spirit world.
