A sleek figure emerges from the long reeds. Haunting eyes glimmer in the light of dawn. Crouched low is a slender, well muscled young feline, stalking quietly as a herd of impalas drink. You lower yourself flat, observing the stranger.
The dark cat leaps, as a young impala wanders from it’s now scattering herd. A swift bite to the neck finally terminates the animal’s thrashing. A clean kill. You could use that skill.
You cautiously sniff the area, approaching the stranger silently, as to not spook them.
“I know you’re there.” The dark feline turns to you, and sits, unamused, her eyes glowing, yellow slits. A dark dot in a sea of golden yellow. “Uh- h-hi.. I was wonderi-“ “You were wondering if I’d join your pride.” The dark lioness states flatly, blood dripping from her maw. She licks at the blood staining her paws, unamused.
“Well, *trespasser*” she says, glaring at you for a moment, before continuing grooming her crimson stained paws “if you couldn’t tell by all the scent marks littering this place…” She licks at her paw and swipes it over her ear before settting her it down. “I belong to a pride.” She sits, observing you for a moment. “You’re quite lucky I don’t report you.” You shuffle uncomfortably, feeling her eyes boring a hole into you. “Oh, I- I’m sorry, I… must’ve missed them on the way in.” *why hasn’t she reported me, though? Why hasn’t she called out to her pride?* you wonder.
Before you can finish your thoughts, she stands up, ripping out a chunk of bloody flesh from the carcass before striding away, tail swishing. “Just get out of here. The scouts will be all over this place if they catch whiff of you.” You sigh, turning to leave. Perhaps you two will meet again some day.
