While all the strong lions were busy trying to solve the problems of the lion gods, Anubis was trying to catch a butterfly. His mother, Baloney, hadn't been keeping a close enough eye on him, and he ended up wandering off. After a couple hours, Anubis finally caught it, turning around to show his mother. He was shocked to see nothing he recognized nearby. He started running off in the way he thought was home, only to get more lost. Finally, it was getting dark, and he could no longer see where he was going. This caused him to stumble right into a trap made by poachers.
The next day, a wild looking lion named Hades found him in the trap. Hades was obviously confused, calling him a descendant of Seth and promising to free him. Anubis saw this as a good opportunity, accepting his help. The lion made quick work of the poachers who trapped him, before destroying the cage in one blow. Anubis decided to take advantage of Hades' assumptions, claiming his arrival was a sign from Seth that this was the pride he was meant to join. Hades took his word for it and immediately accepted him into his pride.
Anubis decided that he might as well push his luck further, and went to Hades the next day saying he had a vision from Seth that he would be the next leader of the pride. Hades took him at his word once again, fully cementing himself as a fool in Anubis' eyes. A submale was assigned to train him right away, and Anubis was announced the heir to the Abaddon Pride. With mental apologies to Seth (as well as a promise to devote himself and his future children to him), Anubis settled into his new life, hoping his surprising luck would continue.
