Aurea was the last of the jaguars to make it ashore after their voyage asea had been halted by the ship sinking. Rain had washed away the jaguar tracks and scent, so Aurea had no choice but to wander aimlessly and hope she found some signs of her lost shipmates. Instead, Aurea stumbled upon Caspian, who was immediately smitten by the odd new-comer.

The two paired off for the night, though Aurea quickly left later that night to continue her search for her lost family. Within the next few weeks, Aurea realized she was expecting and gave up her search and found a cove to nest in and sustain herself with smaller fish until she welcomed Harbor, her son, and Anahita, her daughter. Alone and in an unknown territory with foreign species, Aurea had no choice but to make her way back to Caspian's territory.

To her shock, Aurea and her miracle litter of lion-jaguar hybrids were immediately welcomed into the pride. Aurea and her cubs initially nested in Caspian's den, but once the cubs were weaned she moved into the broodmother's cave to continue helping other nursing mothers. It took several months for the lionesses to trust this strange cat with their own cubs, but eventually Aurea was the pride's most trusted cub-sitter.
