Newborn : Fawn is the ninth cub born to Vesper. She was birthed in the morning during the middle of the wet season.
{Vesper watched the two cubs curled into Lusita's white belly. At least one of them were a female. She was the promising one. He buried his snout in her fur and a series of squeaks erupted from her. She was gentle when she pawed his face, pushing him away from her and burying herself deeper into her mother's fur. He could tell she was soft, but she had a place within his pride nonetheless.
Her brother on the other hand wasn't as fortunate. He knew the moment he laid eyes on him that he was not worthy of staying. Vesper wrapped his mouth around his small body, glancing at Lusita before taking him away. He knew she would mourn him, for she was soft too, but he would always do what was necessary. He'd make it quick and merciful. The cub didn't have a future in his pride, but he deserved that much.
Young Cub: A lot of Fawn's older sisters were mean, especially Carmine's litter. They always made Fawn cry, that's why she liked the oldest siblings in Mother's Cavern. Her favorites were Varsha and Condor. They were always the ones to make her feel better when their sisters picked on her. Varsha wouldn't leave her side until she was smiling or laughing, and Condor would protect her from them whenever he was around. She liked Neveah and Seraphina too, preferring to spend time with them than her sisters closer in age. Soon she would be training with all of them, something Fawn was dreading because of the horrible trio. Hyacinth was just plain scary. Everything was a competition with Bambi, who never gave up, and just being near Doe hurt. She didn't want to train with them in general, but she didn't want her father to think of her was weak either. Which meant she would have to fight; she would just have to do so with eyes full of tears.
Cub: Fawn got through it, it was hard, but she did fairly well in training. There were definitely tears, good ones and bad ones, but she needed them all. Fawn only failed the chasing lessons, but when she practiced, she finally succeeded. She was best at stalking though, a few of the lionesses watching in on their training told her she was a natural. That made her so happy, she almost cried. Even though the triple threat only left a month ago and she would be joining them soon in Pride Cavern, she was excited to hunt with the lionesses. She endured them during training, sharing a cavern again shouldn't be too hard. She only hopes that Sombra will partner her up with
anyone else than one of those three.
Adolescent: Learning how to hunt was difficult on Fawn. The learning curve left her feeling very emotional and more often than not on the verge of tears. She had to get used to failing and how to pick herself up to do it all over again. The lionesses said hunting was much harder because of the Great Drought, but Fawn couldn't help but blame herself when she couldn't run fast enough or when she slipped up on their plan. The few times they did get their prey down was just enough to keep Fawn going. All of these months taught her that no matter the difficulties, if you push through, you will eventually succeed. And sometimes the reward tasted better that way.
Adult:
{ 5 year, 1 month old} - Fawn gave birth to two cubs this season, both beautiful and female. She couldn't help getting emotional as she cleaned them up and made them presentable. She could feel the lump in her throat as she nuzzled them both and tried not to fall into the happy sob that was wanting to consume her. She managed to keep it together by the time Vesper visited. He greeted her warmly and then met with his cubs, tenderly giving the ginger cub a bit more attention. Fawn was feeling really hopeful that she would be allowed to keep at least one cub. That was way she felt like she was struck when her King looked at said he'd be taking both her daughters. Fawn could barely breathe as she tried to calm the wave of sorrow that threatened to drown her.
"My apologies, dear." Vesper said softly before he beckoned Condor over.
Tears welled in her eyes, making her sight blurry as both males grabbed a cub in their mouth. She was sobbing before they had even left, unable to keep all her emotions at bay. Her mother, Lusita, immediately came over to her and laid next to her, pressing herself into Fawn and grooming her to soothe her. Selkie settled on the other side of Fawn, rubbing into her as well. Even though she was hurting, she was grateful for both lionesses in her time of need.
