(His looks are subject to change)
Azrael is a complex character, embodying both the harshness of a solitary life and a deep, hidden yearning for connection. On the surface, he appears cold, calculating, and fiercely independent. He’s a master strategist, always thinking several moves ahead, whether it’s in a battle or in conversation. However, beneath this tough exterior lies a lion who has long been searching for something more than just survival—though he would never admit it, even to himself.
Azrael values strength and self-reliance above all else, having learned the hard way that trust is a luxury he can’t afford. Despite his loner tendencies, he is surprisingly insightful and perceptive about the emotions and motivations of others, a skill he uses to his advantage when manipulating situations to get what he wants. However, this keen understanding also makes him aware of his own loneliness, a fact he tries to ignore.
Backstory:
Azrael was born into a small, struggling pride on the outskirts of the savannah. His early life was marked by constant hardship—food was scarce, and the pride was frequently threatened by more powerful groups. His father, the pride leader, was a strong but harsh lion, teaching Azrael that only the strongest survive and that emotions are a weakness.
When Azrael was just entering adulthood, his pride was attacked by a neighboring pride led by a coalition of brothers who sought to expand their territory. In the brutal conflict, Azrael’s father was killed, and the pride was scattered. Azrael fought valiantly but was ultimately forced to flee, becoming a rouge at a very young age.
The loss of his pride left Azrael with a deep sense of abandonment and betrayal. He vowed never to be weak again and spent the next several years wandering the savannah, honing his skills and challenging other pride leaders whenever he crossed paths with them. He became something of a legend, known as the “Stray King”—a lion who roamed the land, taking down pride leaders without ever staying to claim their territories.
Despite his reputation, Azrael has never sought to create his own pride. The thought of leading others and becoming responsible for their lives feels like a burden he’s unwilling to bear, a vulnerability he refuses to embrace. Instead, he finds a twisted sort of satisfaction in being the outsider, the rogue who answers to no one and nothing.
Yet, as the years have gone by, the solitary life has started to weigh on him more heavily. Though he remains outwardly confident and independent, there’s a part of Azrael that longs for the connection he once had in his youth, a part that remembers the warmth of companionship, even if it was fleeting.
