AmΓΌr's Pride is just ahead, and the young lioness remembers hearing of a lone king with a couple lioness' who would surely welcome her for a while. It wasn't surprising he had taken a liking to her quickly, even giving her the nickname Gazelle due to her peaceful nature. She is far too young to yet have cubs, being only 16 months old, however she admires a litter from afar. Gazelle did not enjoy the pecking of the hornbills which nested by, however once she'd caught one or two her fur would lie flat on her shoulders again. One of the Older lioness, Wisdom, who had passed on the same day of her leaving had decorated Gazelle with some pelt-paint and an accessory. Gazelle departed with a slight frown, but AmΓΌr says she's welcome to stay another time and might come across one of his own travellers in the future.

September 24th, Tuesday, Mieszko III, ketchup #408311
The young lioness soon came across Mieszko III and introduced herself as Gazelle and asked if she could stay for a little while, Mieszko, however, remained stoic in his expression and kept walking. Feeling rejected, Gazelle turned to leave but was called back by an elder lioness by the name of Eudoksja. "Ignore him, he's young and prideful. I mean I'm not native to this pride but he grew to like me, I don't about you though, don't get your hopes up.". Gazelle explained that she's only temporary and asked if there are any cubs she could play with, Eudoksja led her to Bona VIII and said "Careful with her, she's a bit intense.". Gazelle was an adult lioness and would soon have cubs of her own, so her maternal instincts only grew with time, she tried her best to be cheerful but Bona only rolled her eyes and pushed a cub towards without a word. Little Gryfina was very unlike her peers, in looks and in personality. Gazelle stayed a while with Mieszko's pride as she enjoyed some of the peace and quiet, even if it was also paired with side-eyes and whispers about her appearance among other things. Eventually, that peace and quiet turned to exclusion as many of the galaxy-coloured lionesses stuck with their established cliques with that came with little to no wiggle room for new-comers. Just as Gazelle wanted to leave, Mieszko disappeared for several days and she thought it impolite to leave without a word of thanks. As soon as Mieszko came back, she went to thank him for his hospitality and immediately left. They never said it would be easy.

Friday September 27th, 2024 - 2y 4mo, Krancher II - Asparagus and Sin #311180
After gaining some distance from Mieszkoβs territory, Gazelle follows the river until it opens up to a massive beach. She perks up as the sea breeze brings the scent of lions, and she trots along the sand until she reaches a network of caves along a cliff face. When she approaches the largest cave, a lion flies past her, covered in flames and screeching about something not working.
A decorated piebald lion with white horns is right behind him, sputtering back and forth with him as he frantically tries to smack the fire away. Itβs to no avail, and the flaming lion tumbles out of the cave, running down the beach towards the water. A few adorned lions leap by and sprint after him, shouting at him as trinkets fly off of their bodies.
βOhβ¦ oh, heβs gone,β the horned lion utters as he stares at the now-motionless blotch of fire in the distance.
Another male passes him calmly. βSoβ¦ no pyrotechnics for the new play?β
The first lion sighs. βWe are not ready. For now, the fire stays in the fire pit.β After a moment, he looks at Gazelle and tilts his head curiously.
She coughs a little and dips her head. βMy name is Gazelle, Iβm a traveler looking for a place to stay for a bitβ¦?β
βOh, weβve got room,β he says nonchalantly, immediately dropping the fire topic. He smiles and stands, bowing his head. βI am King Krancher the Second, but everyone here calls me Kranchissimo.β
A chorus of returning lions immediately responds with variations of, βNobody calls you that.β
βIt WILL catch on, I do declare,β he shouts back defiantly, a flamboyant ring in his tone.
βUm, may I ask what that was about?β Gazelle looks towards the plume of black smoke in the distance.
βOh, my dad and his queens figured out how to use fire. Our theatre program was experimenting with it for special effectsβ¦β He trails off and looks towards the beach.
She nods at the eccentric information. βWell, that effect wasβ¦ definitely special.β
Over the next few days, the traveler spends time getting to know the pride and watching them rehearse a play that they learned from watching television through human windows.
βIs that really how it ended, when you saw it?β she asks, confused by the plot. βHe says, βLook at me. Iβm de captain, now,β then the ship burns down, and thatβs the end?β
The two acting lionesses let go of each other and sit awkwardly. βWeβve never actually finished watching something,β one says. βThey always end up freaking out and chasing us away. So we always just have everyone die.β
Gazelle huffs, amused. βHave you ever seen the ending of a show without seeing the beginning? Maybe you could combine them.β
The group gasps in amazement at the idea, then they invite Gazelle up on stage to star in a new rendition of the show.
The next evening, all the lions in the pride have their attention glued to the stage. Some are sniffling, and some have mouths agape in anticipation.
βJack,β Gazelle whimpers to the other lioness as they lie surrounded by blue and white flowers representing icy water. Gazelle lies on a piece of bark thatβs definitely big enough for both of them, while the other lioness feigns dying in the ocean. βJackβ¦ look at meβ¦ Iβm de captain, now.β
Gazelle then gingerly pushes the other lioness, who slowly slides out of sight, down the back of the boulder.
Thereβs a short silence before the cave erupts into roaring applause. The performers hop onto the boulder and bow in unison, the rest of the pride cheering and throwing flowers at them.
The next morning, everyone hugs Gazelle goodbye. Before she sets off, her new friends adorn her with some items from the play to take on her journey.
She loves this pride, but she hopes to find a less chaotic one by the time her first heat arrives.

Arrived when she was ~2 years old.
Cove sniffs the air, following the scent of a fresh kill. Sheβs met with five lionesses, enjoying their first meal of the day and socializing. Once they see her, they greet her and happily share the meal with her.
Once their bellies were full, they worked together to bring the rest back to the pride so the elders and young ones could eat. The cubs climb all over the newcomer, happy that someone new has arrived!
