Fate
Daughter of Sukyo
{Cubs born into Pride: 1 | Offspring in the Pride: 1}
☼ Bio ☼Newborn : Fate is the 64th cub born to Kiran. She was birthed at night in the middle of the Dry Season. {Kiran had gone to fetch Bedisa when MoonDance notified him of Sukyo's birth. She had advised him to take extra care of the lioness, because she could very well be pregnant with the pride's first Soothsayer. The notion was hard to believe. But so was everything the Soothsayers had claimed since they had found him. Everything, except for his brother siring the first Soothsayer in his pride. Kiran had received the news about 5 months ago from Felice, who was now working closely with Vesper and his gifted daughter. Bedisa seemed troubled by that fact, looking far more worried than usual ever since. He didn't blame the lioness, but he knew all was well. His brother was tasked with being the keeper of all the unpleasant realities of life, but that didn't mean he was ruthless. More often than not, he was simply misunderstood.
When he carried on the news to Bedisa, her eyes lit with a hope he hadn't seen since she arrived at his pride. She leapt to her paws and led the way all the way to Mother's Den. The moment she entered, her entire body went ridged. A shiver ran down the length of her and her tail curled forward. He had known this lioness for all of his life, and this was the first time a smile had ever graced her face. A wave of awe washed over him, feeling something great was on the horizon. Bedisa blinked out of her trance and started again, right to Sukyo's nest. She greeted her meekly and then set her starry gaze on the cubs curled against their mother's belly. There were two, a female and male. One spotted, one sporting blotches similar to their mother. Bedisa narrowed her attention on the spotted cub and slowly leaned down to brush her nose against her pelt. On contact, his cub's little body quivered, and she cried out as if hurt. Kiran almost rushed in and separated them, but he trusted Bedisa, so he held back every urge to come to his daughter's aid and instead reassured Sukyo who seemed just as skeptical.
Bedisa soothed his cub, tenderly grooming her head until she relaxed. Then the Soothsayer turned to him, triumph shining in her eyes. "Congratulations, Kiran. You have sired the first Soothsayer of the Rising Sun pride."
He was speechless for a moment, but he managed to bow his head in gratitude and thank the lioness.
"I will carry the news to Felice and she will carry it to your brother."
"No doubt he'll take it as a challenge." Kiran chuckled.
His humor was lost on Bedisa, earning a whisper of a frown instead. "I will personally prepare your daughter to fulfil her duties as the pride's Soothsayer. She has a tender heart, she'll be what your pride needs in the darkest of times."
Kiran nodded. "Thank you for your guidance, Bedisa. You have changed our lives, my brother and I will forever be grateful."
Though he was completely sincere, the lioness's face grew grave once more. "I'm only doing my duty, Sire. Making amends for the failures of the past. The fate of the world as we know it is in the paws of yours and your brother's."
"And we will do everything in our power to maintain the balance, you have my word."
She gave him a nod of acknowledgment, seemingly satisfied with is promise. "I need to get word of your daughter's birth to Felice, but I will be back as soon as possible." She vowed and then quickly left Mother's Den.
Kiran settled beside Sukyo, thinking of how to explain the full extent of what this all meant when he caught the amused glint in her eye and her mischievous grin.
"Does this mean I get special treatment now?" she joked. At least Kiran assumed she was joking...
He smiled back at his lioness. "You all are special to me. But if you mean, you will have the chance to get to know one of the last Soothsayers of the Falling Stars pride, then yes. The special treatment starts now."
She smirked, glancing at their cubs. "Not exactly what I had in mind," She muttered.
"This is big, Sukyo." Her eyes settled back on him. "This will change everything."}
Young Cub : Fate knew things most other lions didn't. She knew when someone would get hurt or when someone had been crying when all they wore was smiles. She could see what couldn't be seen, that was what Bedisa said, and that was what made them Soothsayers. Bedisa said there were others, like them in the Eternal Eclipse pride, but she had only met Felice. She liked Felice, she was kind and gentle just like Bedisa. She promised Fate that she would be able to meet Sybil, the other Soothsayer apprentice. From then on, she couldn't wait to meet another cub like her. When she wasn't daydreaming what that would be like, she was comforting pride members, following Broodmothers, and helping cubs stay out of trouble. There was even a couple of times she stopped her mother from causing trouble. She didn't like it, but Fate couldn't help herself. Maybe it was a Soothsayer thing or maybe it was just a Fate thing.
Cub: Fate did exceptionally well during basic training. She loved it almost as much as Soothsayer training. She got to wrestle with her pridemates and pin them for a proper grooming or practice pouncing on an unsuspecting lion that required a much-needed bath. She even stalked the King during an evening patrol in order to tame his wild mane he dared to go out with. All the hard work was worth it, especially when she assigned her rewards with hours of cuddles.
Unfortunately, training with Bedisa didn't involve as many cuddles or grooming sessions, but it was always exciting. When she was 6 months old, Fate got to finally meet Sybil. She was much older, more experienced, and as cool as she always imagined her to be. She felt quite comfortable with Sybil, despite her jump scaring during their first meeting. She reminded Fate of her mother who was also a fan of pranks. Sybil felt like home and when it came time to leave Fate only wanted to get closer to her. Fate would never forget her first lesson as an official Soothsayer apprentice. She'd never forget the feeling of forging a connection with each of them and in turn becoming one. Bedisa and Felice said that it was one of the most important traditions of Soothsayers, for they were far more powerful united together than apart. Fate could feel the truth they spoke in her bones. They hummed with an energy she had never felt before, and it always got stronger when her sisters of the eye were nearby. It wasn't often that Fate got to share lessons with Sybil, but it was an extra special day when she got to practice with her and then share what they'd been up to afterwards. Fate loved hearing Sybil's pride gossip and share her own in return.
You get into an argument with ☼Cub over who would win in a fight - Apedemak or the Sangoma Leader. The cub says Apedemak, because he's a lion...but you've seen what that human does with the weather…
