Lore

------------------------

Bean has heard of the terrifying expirence Paintball had, pushed around and held captive, abused and ignored before being killed.. but still, she is determined to try her own journey, spreading the word of of her older sisters adventures. She's on a quest to make sure travelling lionesses like her and paintball are not so easily thrown aside. A quest to make sure those that are curious stay safe in their travels. She intends to stay out for 8 years of her life before coming home to talk to her uncle, Childe, about everything she's found and bring riches back to share with her siblings.

-----------------------------
Bean's first stop was the same pride that Paintball was last seen at. Skeptical and a bit afraid, she expected some kind of skull-scattered valley, but she found a beautiful close knit forest. She didn't let the looks fool her, until a green lionness her age welcomed her. (Shaola)

Learning of Paintball's fate, the pride was incredibly distraught and vowed to do their best to not let such a thing happen to another travelling lionness. Shaola showed Bean a cave they were building for any future travelers, and found her a spot in the warm shade. Shaola told Bean about Paintball's time here, and gifted her an intimidating headgear to go with her bodywear. No lion would dare think low of someone so menacing!

When Bean was leaving, Shaola reminded her to bring Paintball justice and never back down, and was assured that she could stay there again whenever she wanted.

-----------------------------
It seemed that the more Bean traveled, the more she found aggressive rabid animals. She tried her best to keep her distance, for she knew what would happen if one of those beasts bit her.

When stopping by a waterhole to catch a quick drink, she noticed that it was practically bare except for a painted dog...or, something that looks like one. It was about about 10 feet away from her and seemed to be vomiting at a small pile of rocks. At first, it didn’t seem to notice her, but once it did, It started to sprint toward her, long thick strings of drool flying off of it as it does. Fear starts to fill through Bean, and she prepares herself to finally do something she knew she would have to do sooner or later; fight for her life. But right before the painted dog could get to her, a lioness appeared from the bushes and wrestled it to the ground, where she eventually stopped the suffering of the beast.

Bean soon finds out that the now muddy lionesses name is Oliviacea, one of the nearby Queens near the watering hole. She explains that she’s beer having to put down a decent amount of rabid animals recently, due to their aggressive behavior. Olviacea invites Bean to spend a few nights at one of her dens, just till the amount of rabid animals goes down. Bean agrees and fits in well within Olviaceas community. She learns about their culture while she tells the stories of her sister and spreads the word about traveling lionesses. Bean even means Rana Oroara, Olivaceas’s wife, who showed her how to create jewelry out of bones and other materials. After a few nights, Bean goes back out, now keeping an eye out for any rabid animals.

-----------------------------

After her time with Oliviacea, Bean continued her journey, her spirit invigorated by the warmth of the lionesses she had met. But as she roamed further into unfamiliar territory, she felt a shift in the air, an undercurrent of danger that made her fur bristle. She was determined to stay focused on her quest to spread awareness about the perils traveling lionesses faced, especially after learning about her sister Paintball's tragic fate.

Bean’s trek soon brought her to a vast, golden expanse dotted with sporadic trees, a stark contrast to the lush forest she had just left. The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows that seemed to whisper warnings of the territory ahead. Before she could fully assess her surroundings, two lionesses emerged from the brush, their eyes narrowing as they locked onto Bean.

“Look what we have here,” one sneered, her golden fur glinting like the sun. “An intruder.”

“State your business, little lioness,” the second growled, her stance aggressive, muscles tensed and ready to pounce. “You’re trespassing on King Kerian’s land, and he doesn’t take kindly to outsiders.”

Bean’s heart raced, but she stood tall. “I’m Bean. I’m traveling to share stories of lionesses and ensure our safety on the road. I mean no harm.”

The first lioness scoffed. “Travelers mean trouble. You’re lucky we don’t drag you back ourselves.”

“Enough,” the second lioness interrupted. “We’ll take you to the king. Maybe he’ll be in a generous mood today.”

With that, they fell in line behind her, herding her toward the king’s den. The atmosphere grew tense as they walked, the weight of the king's reputation heavy in the air. Bean mentally prepared herself.

As they approached a rocky outcrop where the king lounged, the two lionesses stepped aside, revealing the imposing figure of King Kerian. He was magnificent and terrifying, his golden coat shimmering against the setting sun. His piercing gaze swept over Bean, assessing her like a potential threat.

“Who dares enter my territory?” Kerian’s voice was smooth, laced with an authority that demanded respect.

“I’m Bean,” she said, meeting his gaze firmly. “I seek to learn and to spread the word about protecting traveling lionesses. I come in peace.”

Kerian studied her for a moment, a glimmer of intrigue in his eyes. “Peace? In my territory? You’re either very brave or very foolish.”

“I know the risks,” Bean replied, her voice steady. “But I believe knowledge can change our fates. I want to ensure no lioness suffers like my sister, Paintball.”

At the mention of her sister’s name, a flicker of recognition crossed Kerian’s face, but it quickly vanished. “Very well, Bean. I will allow you to stay for a few days. You may learn from my pride, but tread carefully. I will not tolerate any disruptions.”

With that, the king gestured for one of his lionesses to show Bean around. For the next few days, she observed the pride, absorbing the dynamics of power and the unspoken rules that governed their interactions. Despite the initial hostility, she found moments of camaraderie among some lionesses who were intrigued by her stories.

Kerian, while fearsome, was not without a sense of strategy. He allowed Bean to share her tales, intrigued by the idea of lionesses standing together. But he also made it clear that while she was a guest, she must respect his authority. Bean took every opportunity to learn, honing her own skills in combat and survival, preparing herself for the challenges that lay ahead.

On the last day of her stay, Bean approached Kerian one final time. “Thank you for allowing me to stay, Your Majesty. I’ve learned much about your pride and the importance of strength and unity.”

Kerian nodded, a rare smile breaking through his usual demeanor. “I have a gift for you. This is a Black-Lored Waxbill,” Kerian said, his tone softer now. “Once believed lost to time, its reappearance is a symbol of resilience and hope. Carry it with you as a reminder of your strength and the possibilities that lie ahead. May it bring you luck on your journey. Remember, strength is not solely in power but also in the bonds you forge and the stories you carry with you. Use both wisely.”

Bean felt a mix of gratitude and apprehension. The king had offered her a glimpse into a world of strength, but she knew she had to continue her quest. She bid farewell to the lionesses she had connected with, promising to return and share more stories in the future.

With her heart set on her mission, Bean left Kerian’s territory, her resolve stronger than ever. She would carry the lessons learned and the stories shared, determined to make the wild safer for all traveling lionesses. Each step she took brought her closer to her goal of justice for Paintball and a brighter future for those who roamed the vast landscapes alone. Her journey was far from over, but Bean felt ready for whatever lay ahead.

--------------------------

She wandered through the world for a while, and though she did not feel fear… there was a constant nagging in her paws. Some kind of uncertainty that stole her from sleep some nights and kept her tail tucked during the days. She understood the concept of strength, the power that came with it. But there seemed to be some fundamental piece of the puzzle missing - like a painting without the color blue. Just… not quite finished.

One morning she woke, and the whole world seemed to be whispering. Urging. Even the wind pushed her forward, goading her into a gallop through the hills and valleys before her. Sides heaving with exhaustion she bade the call, leaping deftly over a forest stream, and all at once the earth seemed to quiet. Her hackles raised, now familiar with the charged feeling of danger. Except this was different - it was not danger that filled the air, but more a sense of awareness. She crept forward on feather light paws through the undergrowth.

In a softly sunlit clearing of the forest, stood a lioness. Her fur glimmered in the light, seeming to be painted of the skies themselves. The lioness flicked her tail in concentration, pacing in front of some… thing. She did not even notice Bean.

Emboldened, Bean crept into the clearing, not wishing to startle the lioness but curious as to what she was doing. Still the lioness did not turn. Once close enough, Bean was able to see that the lioness seemed to be… drawing? Her claw, dipped in paint, was dragged roughly across the surface of a rock, tracing careful lines into the stone. Bean watched for a moment, transfixed, as the lioness worked.

Suddenly, the lioness inhaled sharply, causing Bean to step back in surprise. Then her eyes widened in wonder as the lioness exhaled over the rock, stars wafting the space of her breath. Whatever she had been drawing came to life. Something long and serpentine with pointed claws and horns lifted into the air and began to swim through the sky, disappearing into the clouds.

It was then that the lioness turned, surprise lighting her eyes upon seeing Bean. But she smiled warmly, and beckoned her forward. The lioness dipped her claws into the muddy earth beside her, and gently pressed her paw to Bean’s face - drawing whorls and stars across her nose and cheeks. She then did the same to Bean’s paws and legs. The mud was soft, and almost warm to the touch, settling into her fur like sunbeams. The lioness did not say a word in this time, just working quietly to the music of the forest. The lioness then stepped around Bean, drawing something more complicated she could not see on her back legs. It felt… strange. Tingly almost. The lioness inhaled, and then there was a sharp bit of heat, like starfire singing the back of her legs. Bean let out a yelp and surged forwards through the grass, startled.

When she turned back, the lioness seemed to be chuckling to herself, though she made no sound. She pointed with her tail to the line Bean had left in the grass.

There were flowers, growing out of the earth everywhere Bean’s paws had stepped. Like magic, they sprouted from the earth and glittered in the afternoon sun. Bean took a few more steps, amazed at the flowers continuing to sprout in her wake. She looked up again to ask the lioness questions but she was nowhere to be found…

Bean wandered around the clearing for a moment, flowers trailing behind her, but she could find no evidence of the lioness’s existence. Confused, and a bit unnerved she made her way out of the forest, only to find the moon much fuller than she last remembered. How much time had passed?

--------------------------

Confused and unnerved from her encounter with the strange lioness she set out walking again. She found that now wherever she was sent the ground seemed to heal beneath her touch. The dry yellow grass turned green and full again, dried up rivers began to refil and wildlife return. She found hunting easy the next few days, having mastered it's practices by now. The earth responded to her positively.

After a few days of wondering, she found herself in familiar territory. Home? She surged forwards, excited to see everyone again. She practically tackled her stepfather onto the floor when she saw his familiar war paint and the rats and weasel that always seemed to swirl around his feet. Now, by no means was Childe a nice lion but after so long away from home? She was relieved to see his horrible self. She nudged his newer injuries and they spoke for a while before she caught him up on everything that's happened.

Upon learning about her newfound 'healing' abilities, Childe asked her to follow. Part of their territory had long since dried up and everything had began to die and wither away. It was hard work, she didn't know what she was doing. Suddenly just walking upon the earth wasn't enough for the severity of how dead thus area was.. she threw herself in, concentrating hard. She didn't know how she did it, absent doodles in the ground or perhaps she'd just concentrated hard enough, but when she opened her eyes the land was bright and green once more. Water trickled into the prides favourite drinking pool once more.

She returned to the pride with the news. Childe, impressed and shocked, walked with her to check it out. He smiled softly at Bean. He praised her. Childe, so difficult to please.. was proud of her. She lifted her tail with pride that day. To reward Bean's hard work, she was given the Bone Spikes that the previous king, Calico, once wore with pride. Childe also ordered a small group of mice to aid her travels. He'd always had a.. weird connection to rodents. She smiled regardless, unsure how they'd protect her but greatful for the gifts.

She decided that this time she'd spend longer catching up with her old pride before setting out. She did miss them, after all. It'd been.. a year since she'd seen them now. Time moved so fast sometimes. She played with new Cubs, caught up with Pride Parade and her own mother.. Bean smiled upon meeting her new siblings. She'd missed this. But alas. She could not stay. She had a job, after all.

She stayed longer then she planned, but the time finally came to leave once more. She set out, ready to find another new pride to teach about traveling lionesses. She said goodbye, sending a silent prayer to the heavens that her mother was alright up above and watching over her. Her journey started once more.
