Despina

Nyx couldn't say if it was the maternal instinct that was already emerging in her along with the life that was forming in her womb, or if it was something else that caught her attention in relation to the little lioness who had the same eyes as her father. She just... couldn't let it go. The mother of that cub was no longer in that pride, she discovered. She didn't know why, but she didn't bother to find out about it either. The thing is, even when she was around other cubs, she seemed lonely... And a tightness appeared in Nyx's heart.
On the last day of visiting that pride, she decided to speak to the king about the little one, asking for permission to take her with her, and she was granted it. Nyx named her Despina, and adopted her. She no longer needed milk, and was old enough to live with other weaned cubs, but the lioness spent all the time she could with her, to strengthen the bond between them.
Over time, the strangeness of her new home faded from Despina’s life, and she soon found herself interacting and playing with other cubs. She also became fiercely protective of her foster sister when she was born, helping to watch over her as she took her first steps, and teaching her everything she had learned when Rhea was old enough to be around other cubs.
Helping to care for Rhea even though she was still very young, and seeing the love that the broodmothers gave to all their cubs, made her fall in love with this role. After spending some time hunting with the other females, she changed roles, becoming a broodmother.
