Deep within the confines of a comfortable, wooly nest, Louie was born.
Deep within the unbinding, limitless void of existence, Louie was born.
Deep entrenched within the crust of time and space, traipsing the line between what once was, what is, and what will be, like a careless housecat atop a white garden fence, Louie is born.
Louie stares deep into the swirling vortex, watching the intricate lines of stardust shimmer with ice and particle dust. He knows the moment he sets his paw down, it will warp time. The second his paw is consumed by the chilling frigidity of antimatter, the sensation will fill him and freeze him in unimaginable cold.
And then, he'll pop out and land harmlessly onto his four paws, springy gray grass round his paws and the scent of wetland in the air. Louie probably won't get a second to ask what he's missed before his fancy vulpine partner bowls into him with big, adoring pupils and requests in that smooth tone of his where Louie's been.
Not only Mr. Foxsocks, but Hana, Angel, Ragdoll, Usagi and Peony as well. Everyone will wonder where he's been, never suspecting his teeter-totter balance between 1950s Africa and 2024 America. It's all he can do not to burst, letting everything he's been keeping in out.
Thankfully, the moment Louie's paws meet solid, warm ground, he's within his den this time instead of out and about. Louie pauses for a moment, sinking gratefully into the warmth that fills his bones. They are frail, and yet they carry immeasurable cold when he comes into contact with antimatter. Louie hates it.
"I'm quite unsure, indeed. I shall have a look at-" Foxsocks' head is turned away from him, but the moment thick, red fur is visible within his den entrance, Louie shoots up and bounds forward to greet his partner with a purr. "Foxsocks," he sighs, relieved. "I missed you."
"Oh! Louie, I miss you as well. It's a bit odd, though, considering I've only just seen you an hour ago! Missing me so quickly, I mean." Foxsocks comments, giving his partner a lick between the ears. A common display of affection for the duo. Louie returns the gesture slowly and nods, processing. Another new thing he hadn't yet realised.
Time works differently here. A day can seem like an hour.
Huh.
