I was travelling the territory after I got kicked out of my old pride, and found a group of lions by the watering hole. I expected them to turn me away like so many others had. But instead, they took me in and taught me. They showed me how to hunt, patrol borders, and their rules that I found interesting. The name Jacana was their gift, because of my brown, black, and ash-grey in my fur—a name that finally felt like it belonged to me. See that pink flower tucked behind my ear? That is a symbol of my gentleness. It reminds me to forgive myself for the lioness I couldn’t be before, and to cherish the kindness I found in the Astral Pride. They gave me a family, a purpose, and a place where I could finally thrive.
